What's really amazing to me, and admittedly I'm a small data set for my own test case, is that too many companies I interact with on a weekly basis seem to fail (in my opinion) to even perform what I'd consider "reasonably expected" service.

As a result, I'm usually pleased (and surprised) when what should be reasonably expected is done without question or prodding.

So when a company goes out of the way to exceed my expectations without any nudging, then they've probably just earned themselves a loyal evangelist.
