I am inordinately happy that it's Friday.

I get very suspicious when I walk into the kitchen and find a cat looking extra innocent, and licking it's chops.

Canyon de Chelly. A place I'm really glad I had a chance to visit.

Apparently, the type of break I have is known as a "bar room fracture." That sounds a lot more interesting than an "I slipped on a moving bus fracture."

The RASC Star Party in Metchosin got windy last night. But Friday night was beautiful! Clear, warm and mostly calm. I didn't try any deep sky imaging, but did get a nice shot of the 26 day Moon once it rose.

"You want a fantasy? Here's one... There's this species that lives on a planet a few miles above molten rock and a few miles below a vacuum that'd suck the air right out of them. They live in a brief geological period between ice ages, when giant asteroids have temporarily stopped smacking into the surface. As far as they can tell. there's nowhere else in the universe where they could stay alive for ten seconds.
"And what do they call their fragile little slice of space and time? They call it real life. In a universe where it's known that who;e galaxies can explode, they think there's things like 'natural justice' and 'destiny'. Some of them even believe in democracy...
"I'm a fantasy write, and even I find it all a bit hard to believe."
- Sir Terry Pratchet

My partner in crime is off to get a new knee. I gave him a selection of clothes pegs for the back of the gown, but for got to suggest he save the kneecap so we can make a plaque out of it. (Around here, that might just be a serious suggestion!)

Got some good pictures of the moon on Monday. I'm tempted to try again tonight.

A beautiful day for a paddle! Sherry and I noodled around Esquimalt harbour, found a geocache and annoyed (well, not much) some seals. A lovely trip.
