CM7 and using Google Play Books makes the NC so much better.
That sounds like quite an experience. I own the Kindle, and you need a credit card to activate the account. If you have a gift card, applying it and then removing the credit card works. As long as you have funds on the gift card, you do not need to keep the credit card registered against the Kindle.
