They take things literally.
I am a second time founder, mobile software developer, traveler, adventurer, instigator, backpacker, diver, mountain biker, surfer, musician and conversationalist.
I first discovered my passion for computers in high school.
In college I worked at a computer store chain in Southern California called Computique. I started selling computers in the Santa Ana showroom. After about a year I took over managing Computique’s school district accounts in Los Angeles and Orange County.
One of the guys I worked with got a job at AST Research (later AST Computer) in Irvine, and recommended me for a job. Thanks Craig Dyer! Starting in the Apple Products group supporting various hardware, AST later merged all its support teams into one building. Soon I began the team supporting AST’s international offices. Also, my longstanding interest in dial-up systems caught the interest of the department director Jim Schraith, and soon I was building AST On-Line! a large dial-up system to provide software updates to AST customers. 20 additional dial-up systems were configured and shipped to the AST’s international offices, and I wrote a program keep them all updated remotely via dial-up modems.
A couple of the guys I worked with at AST came together with me to start TeleGrafix Communications. We made a vector graphics language optimized for slow modem communications. This vector graphics language was in plain text, and could be added to any text-based computer system as another language to give it a graphical user interface. It was wildly popular with the online community. TeleGrafix won a Dvorak Award for Excellence in Telecommunications. This was just as the Internet was opened for commercial use. If this sounds a lot like Flash, you would be correct.
After leaving TeleGrafix, I started Imagenuity, my own company to work on technology projects.
