Story

Public librarian, mother, biker and sailor.
Introduction
I've been a teen services librarian since 2006, with forays into instruction and service learning coordination and a solid foundation in reference and tech help.

I have a son who's now adult and my boyfriend has three lovely daughters who live with us half time.

I ride a bike for transportation most of the time. We have one car in our household and it's mostly used to move kids. I ride for recreation as well, although a recent increase in the length of my commute has made that less likely.

We live on a Vagabond 47, which is a ketch (two masted) sailboat. Liveaboard life is grand. I am looking forward to retirement so that I can read my books in a warmer climate.

I don't blame you for being optimistic, and fortunately you also practice what you preach by trying to get around town on two wheels.

Saturday morning I cruised into Ballard around 8:30 and the first place I hit was the bridge. Unfortunately that has only become worse since I left town, the recent updates by the City show they are trying to discourage bicycling heavily in that area, and in general.

I wish you the best down there, +Jessica Lucas ! But I can't, and won't, work with a City that has shown gross negligence in situations like the bridge for starters.

It's a good thing there's no fast food near my work. I'd be all over some french fries right now.

Who knew instant ramen was such a game changer? Well, my son knows, since it's a staple of his diet right now. But this is history, and google has 3 different doodles to celebrate it.

+Fenriq deVelo luckily I have a really good basic Japanese restaurant near by. Food is all homemade and it literally has 4 employees.

This is really why I shared those photos earlier. I'm playing around with videos and editing using the YouTube editor. The ending is a little abrupt and my focus in the future will not be oversized Starbucks locations.

From the Reserve Roaster downtown. Starbucks has really stepped up its game.

You are not bothering your librarian when you want book recommendations. We love those questions. Especially these questions!

That it was one of his own employees that called him out is so beautiful.
Between high-stakes discrimination suits and the dubious behavior of so-called allies, there's a tempest of awful gender relations in right now in Silicon Valley. But the loudest storms that make...

Well, I'm glad he got called out on it, and as Nollind points out, by another Google employee no less. I don't think my opinion of Schmidt could get any lower, but this would have done it if it could. Can't say I'm surprised that all these wealthy, white, male geeks that run Silicon Valley are so clueless when it comes to women's issues, but it's sad to see so much regular confirmation of the fact.

Raven is such a classy looking boat. Also, your kayak photos make me wish I still owned one. I have problems with the seating position in kayaks though. I did find a SOT kayak though that will work for me, but need to move somewhere that I can have the storage space for it. http://www.nativewatercraft.com/boat.cfm?id=52 until then, I'll live vicariously through you ;)

Good morning. I've got to hurry up and get dressed so I have time to Kayak in my back yard before errands.

Amazing burgers and beer selection. So far I've had the Mushroom Gruyere and Pablano Pepper burgers and both are excellent. I love the beer selection which boasts many of my favorite local breweries as well as a few from out of state. The fries and fry sauce are also wonderful. Try the chipotle mayo or the lemongrass tarter.

I love having the barking dog in my neighborhood. The food is consistently good, the service is great, and I love the beer selection. I hardly ever order cocktails anymore, but I watched the bartenders tonight and they are top notch. Thanks for a great evening.

Ugly building but great resource. My boyfriend says it has the best nautical collection he's seen. Lots of books and digital resources. It's a little hard to find, but totally worth looking for.

I love this co-op. I visit every time I'm in town. They have just what I want food-wise and Wi-Fi too.

Great sushi. This is the real thing and quite a treat to find in Arlington. It can be really busy at times.
