Story
Tagline
Public librarian, mother, biker and sailor.
Introduction
I've been a teen services librarian since 2006, with forays into instruction and service learning coordination and a solid foundation in reference and tech help.

I have a son who's now adult and my boyfriend has three lovely daughters who live with us half time.

I ride a bike for transportation most of the time. We have one car in our household and it's mostly used to move kids. I ride for recreation as well, although a recent increase in the length of my commute has made that less likely.

We live on a Vagabond 47, which is a ketch (two masted) sailboat. Liveaboard life is grand. I am looking forward to retirement so that I can read my books in a warmer climate.

And here's our trip to Blakely Rock where we rafted up with some other boats, then hit the low tide in the morning. There are a lot of photos, because +Max Kingsbury and +Melissa Brown gave me their Nikon DSLR to play with, and well, you know how that goes.

Not cool. I'm unhappy to see an AFSCME union on here.
Just about all of New York's major labor unions signed a Transport Workers Union letter demanding that MTA bus drivers be allowed to legally injure and kill people who are walking or biking with the right of way. The letter, dated June 11, was sent to New York City Council members [PDF].

Why can't people just stop killing each other with their cars?

That is a giant jelly fish sunning itself near our dock. It was huge and beautiful.

Yep, I got it. I did that a long time ago when they first introduced the grid and g+ probably got knocked out because it was right there... #dontwannalearnnewtricks

One weird thing is that although the fossil record for them is like 100 million years old, their pseudo-eye-like structures that occur all over their whole bodies, like thousands of them, only developed within the last million years or so, making them the most recent eyes to have evolved.

National Ride of Silence is today, Seattle's ride starts at Gas Works Park #SEAbikes

Today is the National Ride of Silence. People who have lost loved ones in bike crashes and collisions (and anyone who wants to show solidarity) are invited to ride slowly and quietly together. It’s about making a statement about the safety of people on…

And this is why I love my lbs. They know I ride every day and that my other bike is out of commission at the moment. I got the call at 6pm that the bike was almost ready, and here I am at 7pm back at home.

Second Ascent is the best.

I'm adding all the strange sea creatures that I see to this album. Someday I will get a good picture of one of those huge jelly fish I keep seeing. They are so beautiful. I saw another one while kayaking to Blakely Rock for the low tide. They seem to like sunning themselves in water that's around 25-30' deep.

Dropping off Lucille for a tune up, turns out my back wheel is bad. Will this be the end for our hero?

As a woman that has essentially grown up in the bike industry I really hope that the industry will catch up with the times and start to understand the larger problems that are keeping the industry ...

+Christopher Young got me an Aeropress for my birthday. It makes the best cup of coffee ever. Even with medium grade preground Trader Joe's coffee.

Yum.

Amazing burgers and beer selection. So far I've had the Mushroom Gruyere and Pablano Pepper burgers and both are excellent. I love the beer selection which boasts many of my favorite local breweries as well as a few from out of state. The fries and fry sauce are also wonderful. Try the chipotle mayo or the lemongrass tarter.

I love having the barking dog in my neighborhood. The food is consistently good, the service is great, and I love the beer selection. I hardly ever order cocktails anymore, but I watched the bartenders tonight and they are top notch. Thanks for a great evening.

Ugly building but great resource. My boyfriend says it has the best nautical collection he's seen. Lots of books and digital resources. It's a little hard to find, but totally worth looking for.

Great sushi. This is the real thing and quite a treat to find in Arlington. It can be really busy at times.
