IMPORTANT! Google has just announced that on April 21st, they will launch a "significant" algorithmic update which will give sites that are mobile-friendly a greater presence in mobile rankings!! This is a first - to be given a heads up on a MAJOR update like this.

Run your website through this Google test: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/

If it does not come out with a positive outcome you need to upgrade your website as soon as possible. No, this update won't kill your mobile rankings entirely (likely) but the writing is on the wall here folks!

If you need help updating your website to mobile friendly please contact us because our full-time developer can help you and it doesn't necessarily mean a redesign, just code changes behind the scenes: http://www.stepforth.com/contact/

Dress your walls with paper - Image via Architectural Digest It wasn't that long ago when wallpaper was generally looked down upon. While there were gorgeous homes with gorgeous papered walls, there seemed to be among the masses, a bit of a backlash for a while. Wallpaper was viewed as passe, old and antiquated. It reminded us the the tired, prissy and overly frilly prints of our great grandmother's era. The once bright and happy wal...

Emeril Lagasse's Banana bread via The Entertaining House It's National Banana Bread Day. Did you know there was such a thing? Well, it's a brilliant way to use up some of those overly ripe bananas! I've eaten and made more than my fair share of banana breads in my day. I have to say this is by far the best one I have ever had. It's rich, from the butter and sour cream, and incredibly flavorful. Outside the crust is perfectly crispy a...

How to Make Raisin Challah - Image via The Entertaining House I've been on a kick lately - trying new things... Trying things that I would not ordinarily try both in life and in the kitchen.  It started this summer with my desire to take my first stab at bread-making. What resulted were the most delicious ciabatta rolls that took longer to bake than to eat!  I couldn't believe how easy they were to bake. The hardest part, I think, ...

The new neutrals - how to incorporate animal prints into your home decor image via The difference between a trend and a classic is often nothing more than staying power. A trend becomes a classic when it has proven the ability to stay the course, to endure the years, to outlast, outlive, outwit. A classic is such that looks timeless, elegant and, to some degree effortless, over the years. I wrote last about black and white and why it ...

The best way to display your children's artwork Image via Our Fifth House Right before I graduated from college I told someone that I was going to curate an art exhibit at a children's museum. I was going to fill the entire space with refrigerator doors from which all the artwork would hang. I couldn't have been more than 21 when I came up with that idea., and truth be told I still do love the idea. So if you happen to have a children...

The Pineapple... Perhaps the original status symbol?
The pineapple in Interior Design - Image via Brides Magazine The History: It's said that popularity and importance of the pineapple dates back to the days of Christopher Columbus and his second voyage to the Caribbean where he and his crew had discovered this delicious, exotic fruit. Fresh fruit and sweet treats were rare in Europe. Cane sugar could be imported from the Middle East but at a high price. The pineapple became known as ...

These images were part of a brilliant ad campaign for Mercedes Benz last year. They brilliantly represent the two types of thinking... the creative and the linear. And while at first glance it may seem to be an odd ad for a car company, it's actually quite genius for a luxury automotive brand that envisions itself science and art.  How would you describe yourself? Are you right brained or left brained? Creative or analytical? Below a...

What can you do to make your home look more expensive? Image ElleDecor What is it about those homes that look elegant, timeless and well, more expensive? It's really all in the decor. It's not the size of the home that matters, but how everything is presented inside. There are certain elements that are found in the more luxurious, pricier houses that can be implemented into any home - no matter of style or size. You'll see certain c...

how to make heart shaped cookies without using cookie cutters
It's that time of year. Tomorrow Cupid will aim his arrow and the world will be covered in red (or pink or white) colored hearts and all things hearts. Restaurants world-wide will be booked with a steady stream of lovers - new and old, young and aged. More chocolates, roses and greeting cards will be shared on this day than any other day of the year. The day also unleashes our inner-baker. Whether baking for a loved one, family member...
