An excellent post from Rich Adin, that gives the most interesting reason I've heard for why editing has proven so resistant to being professionalised.  Cf. de Mello, "Wisdom can be learned. But it cannot be taught."

This is the second short story collection with edited by +Jessica Augustsson that I have read, the first being Other days. Just like in that the stories are made by multiple authors that has one or two stories in it.

One of my favourite authors in collection is +Johannes Svensson, which was a relief since he's a friend. His first one felt like a classical sf in style of Harrison. Humans stepping proudly out into the universe and dodo. The second was a lovely story where treating fantastic happenings as mundane gave the story a great feel.

Melissa Swanepoel was my favourite author in Other days and is one of my favourite here as well with "Variations" that feels like a variation of "A thousand and one night".

"Klein closet" is another of my favourite stories but I can't say why without giving away the end.

The one liked the least was "The Kiln". It is a continuation of "The Potter". The Potter was ok but I didn't feel like The kiln added anything. I felt like the two could have been combined and that would have made the things happening in the kiln feel more interesting. As a stand alone though to me it was just trying to shock me without adding value.

In conclusion, I liked most of the stories and there's probably a couple of more I should have mentioned that I didn't. I really enjoyed the book and if I only manage to remember I'll most likely buy the third in the series when it comes out sometime after new year (if I recall correctly)

They've added a new helpful video that explains the many uses. Have a look.

What if roads, those huge empty spaces we drive, walk and ride on, could provide solar power? Groups of researchers are trying to perfect the technology, claiming it could power the U.S. three times over. Take a look: http://goo.gl/Pf2tjS
