I wrote a new post:

I spent the past year packing suitcases that led me to new countries and friends, while unpacking parts of my identity that needed to go, searching for signs that I belong. And here’s what I now. I fell in love when I knew I could use my past to grow. You can end the year with purpose without being in a particular place if you can break apart with Grace (the word I chose for both 2015 and 2016). This blog is my home: where I put my thoughts and ideas together more than anywhere in the world.

What could I possibly know about this concept that didn't exist two seconds before I typed it: content guru. And then I remind myself that true joy exists in the release of not knowing what's next.

It's not easy.

We spend years upon years planning our future, masking our true beliefs, and stuffing our emotions with trivial things that it becomes difficult to know what we truly want in the moment...this moment...like why we want to be a content guru in the first place.

The word “peak” is defined as either the pointed top of a mountain or to “reach its height, climax, come to a head.” but when followed with “experience” it becomes the term “peak experience,” which is defined as:

“a rare, exciting, oceanic, deeply moving, exhilarating, elevating experiences that generate an advanced form of perceiving reality, and are even mystic and magical in their effect upon the experimenter.”

Why is this important when it comes to content?

Welcome back to The Art of Humanity, where we explore creativity + consciousness to allow you and your business to evolve. Jessica Ann took some time away to release her new book, Humanize Your Brand: How to Create Content that Connects with Your Customers, published to rave reviews! It’s available on Amazon as a paperback and ebook, and an audiobook version will be released soon.

Thanks for your patience as The Art of Humanity took a bit of a break. But we’re back!

In Episode 17, Jessica Ann talks with one of the world’s greatest thinkers: media theorist and futurist Douglas Rushkoff.

Listen to hear his thoughts on the future of humanity, technology, and maybe a little bit about…Donald Trump.
"People who think and question are dangerous to the status quo...but right now the status quo is dangerous to humanity." -Douglas Rushkoff, Episode 17, The Art of Humanity

I'm borderline obsessed with living a  #minimalist life.

over the years I've learned how to regularly let go of ideas, things, people (even lovers!) that no longer vibe with who I am.

it's SO liberating.

Minimalism is my framework for finding more freedom while running my business, and it's the foundation for how to create great content.

In my latest post, I share tips on why it's necessary to create minimalist #content  and how you can do it (and do it well):

I’ve been reading and thinking. Traveling the world and moving across the country. Writing and reading. Singing and dancing. Crying and laughing. I’ve been living. And even though I’m no content guru, I know that one way to wake up is to show up. So after some time away, I am here now. What I know is that if you can look within yourself in a world that tells you to look away, you can skyrocket your brand to success – whatever that version of “success” means to you.

Here’s the long version of this post (and my pup):

How is a savvy content marketer supposed to flit and flutter through the fake to fearlessly build a fanatical audience?

Trends in content marketing are more about aligning with a higher purpose so that you can evolve your brand. Even though this headline may give you an instinctive urge to run away, you may want to…read on anyway.

Either way, let’s sashay into what’s happening (for realz) in content marketing right now:

1. The move beyond superficial measures of influence
2. Emotional content is more crucial than ever
3. Source information that’s short and sweet

humanizing the world with consciousness + creativity
Introduction
#listenexploreevolve

I grew up very shy. but I gradually learned to overcome it...mostly because I wanted to be an on-air reporter for television news. I made a demo reel when I was an intern//worked at NBC in Washington, DC. But...I couldn't stop laughing on-camera as I tried to report on...ballistic missiles. Yes, the serious kind of missiles. I decided that I can't take myself seriously enough to be a reporter for...serious topics. I like to have WAY too much fun!

So I became a reporter at XM Radio, where I could report on less serious things, like traffic and weather. I was "Jessie Z. with your Total XM Instant Traffic and Weather." ever hear me?

I was at XM Radio when it was a boutique, with an amazing culture. Working with those creative minds during such an instrumental time of my career still inspires me today. I helped launch the first women's channel on satellite radio. And helped XM launch their digital podcasting initiative too. I worked with the teams behind Oprah and Friends, Opie & Anthony, Bob Edwards, and various other shows to get their programming on the Apple iTunes store. looking back, it's easy to see that I've always been an "intrapreneur." little did i know it then. of course, I didn't even know such a word existed. do you know about this word? it's my new favorite. obviously.

I went to college for Visual Media at American University in Washington, DC. and have my Master's in Communications from Johns Hopkins University.
