I wonder how much Google is paying Gogo to make Google+ accessible from the sky without logging into Gogo.

Well, I see that people have figured out why I'm quitting AOSP.

There's no point being the maintainer of an Operating System that can't boot to the home screen on its flagship device for lack of GPU support, especially when I'm getting the blame for something that I don't have authority to fix myself and that I had anticipated and escalated more than 6 months ahead.

Sucks, but I don't think "boots on existing commercial devices so devs can have fun with them" was ever the actual reason for AOSP to exist. "Makes it easy for new manufacturers to spin up on their own hardware" seems closer.

A few months ago, I hosted a keyboard "tasting party" for some friends.

I'd be happy to answer any questions I can about anything in my collection.

Nice collection; thanks for sharing. The Matias half-querty is very clever. I also like the idea of the regular grid layout keyboards. I have only recently been learning to touch-type and the slight slant to the key layout seems unnecessary and a finger strain.

I got a MOD Live HUD from Recon Instruments today.
It is, indeed, running Gingerbread.

#ifihadglass, I wouldn't have bothered to tear it down.

As it turns out, if you can get it to install an update.zip, it won't check the signatures. Which means it's pretty easy to root :)

Cracking it open, the display is a Kopin, though I don't yet know which model.

It's designed as a look-around display. The prism has a mirrored backing and is wrapped in black plastic. The mirror coating on the prism comes off quite easily with a bit of rubbing alcohol.

So yeah, rootable Android (2.3) wearable computer. $300.

More details as the story develops.

+Mike Hendrickson This is actually their older model. (The ski googgle HUD)

It has no built in audio support. You'd do that over bluetooth.

Initial #ifihadglass submission on Twitter: 2/20. Invite from Google on Twitter on 3/27. No purchase link just yet ;)

Ok, all. I am doing some data collection and here are my findings.

All of the #ifihadglass  winners who got their announcement yesterday were alerted to the fact in the same date range (Feb 26th and Feb 27th).

It seems that the pattern that Google is following directly relates to the date that the #ifihadglass  winner was invited to join the explorer program. Not the submission date or physical location. Keep in mind that my data is limited right now but as soon as I can identify the exact trend, I should be able to figure out when everyone will get their invite.

I expect invites will be sent in batches to explorers with a few days in between. There is a likely chance that Google may have oversold this event, fully expecting that many explorers will not be able to attend the event, hence why the waves.

My data can be found here - http://kmyers.me/2013/05/project-glass/ifihadglass-winner-list/

I will attempt to update it as I collect more data,
Below is a list of #ifihadglass members who have gotten the final invite to pick up their Google Glass. If you are not on this list, please send a message to +Keith Myers with a link to your winning #ifihadglass post and I will get you added.

I've built my first little piece of software for Google Glass.

I flew home from SF yesterday and realized that there was no way (short of installing a very crashy Settings.apk) to enable Airplane Mode on my Glass.

That seemed like a reasonable enough "small" starter project.

This is really, really only for folks who are already comfortable running third party apps on their Glass. If you don't know how to sideload apps with adb, please don't install this.

You can grab the initial build at:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rtbt7vc3bz67j3c/GlassAirplane-0.1.apk

Source lives at https://github.com/obra/GlassAirplane

Patches welcome!

A little bit of anecdotal testing suggests that this actually isn't a battery win. Which sort of surprised me.

Ooh. #ifihadglass  invites are going out to G+ entrants. I guess I should have entered the contest on Google+ / +Project Glass  rather than using #ifihadglass  on twitter.
