As I was traveling Poland with my wife the only opportunity to make studied images is in the morning.  While roaming Gdansk at 5:00am this setting got my attention.  The context, texture and layers seem to work. I'm still not completely satisfied with this image.  I'm thinking more black.

I'll soon be leaving my employer to pursue my interest in photography with the aim to give back to the world the advantages I have experienced. To that end I'm exploring ways of achieving that vision.  One notion that appeals to me is humanitarian photography, i.e., helping NGOs and local / national charities promote their missions via story and images. As I’m just starting out on this quest any feedback on how to get started would help a lot.
The artist in me is striving to develop my creative spirit like that of Ray K Metzker and Paul Strand.  I positively know for sure that is my muse speaking as I was drawn to the same subject matter and post processing in my early days of photography like that of Metzker and Strand although at that time I have not seen their work. Their dramatic abstract black and white images are an inspiration which is where I am taking my work.
Having said that, I don’t have the temperament to specialize in any one genre. I see my future humanitarian work  leaning toward the dramatic black and white style of Sebastião Salgado which is not far from Metzker and Stand.
I hope one day my oeuvre will truthfully and honestly reflect my creative spirit as influenced by three truly great photographers.
