File Under: Why Bother?
Banging my head against the wall trying to make the wiki software do something that it probably can't do.  More likely can, but I just can't see how. But it's a more attractive proposition than working on other stuff, because it reminds me of my life from 2...

Run a website with an IPB forum or WordPress blog as a major component?  Do you have Alexa's code in there and wonder why your traffic numbers look off?  #Alexa seems to be incapable of correctly counting forum traffic or even registering blog traffic.  And it's not like Google Analytics is all that much better.
Updated 2015-04-04. Statistics regarding the Crazymeds site. Because I am such a stats whore. But mainly because looking at the stats calms me the hell down.

Seriously #AdSense ?  Three ads for #DunkinDonuts on the #Wellbutrin page but only one on the #Remeron page?

Don’t you read what I write?

"At any dosage it will make you crave doughnuts. Seriously. You will want to invest in Krispy Kreme stock (or maybe something along similar lines that isn’t tanking); as Remeron’s antagonism of the serotonin 5HT2C and H1 receptors gives you the munchies for carbohydrates and sugars like you were 16 and smoking the best pot ever in the parking lot of a strip mall with a 24-hour doughnut shop beckoning you with glazed and jelly-filled ecstasy. People dipping spoons into a bag of sugar and eating it as is – not unheard of when on Remeron. This stuff is nothing more than legal marijuana, and if I knew crap about biochemistry I could probably prove that crazy statement."

People who take Wellbutrin don’t want to eat anything. It’s the “happy, skinny, horny pill”, remember? People who take Remeron want to eat doughnuts all day long.

And we're back.
The rebuild is 95% complete. I've reopened the forum. It will be slow going until morning, but better than nothing, right?

I've updated the #BrandvsGeneric and #FDA vs. #Teva/Impax vs. Reality pages to reflect the bioequivalence testing data on #Budeprion XL the FDA quietly released ... however long ago they quietly released it ... along with their somewhat more stringent standards for generic crazy meds.

At least the first couple of new generics for any given med. My money is on their still letting most of them get by on paperwork alone and no actual BA/BE testing.

I’ve updated the #Crazymeds stats page.  I managed to track down the source of something that has been bothering me: why is there such a big discrepancy between the numbers reported by Alexa, Google Analytics and Awstats?  I haven’t found out why, but at least I know where: the Crazy Talk forum (especially people using the Tapatalk app), and the site's WordPress blog.

The truly sad stat: the most popular page on the blog, the one that gets THREE TIMES as much traffic as the main / home / default page, is the admin panel login.  There are more annoying little 1337 4aX0rs trying to crack that piece of shit than there are people interested in reading it.

Why bother?

84% complete. Faster, but I still need to figure out if I buy anything by taking down the wiki, and at what point keeping the forum offline won't matter.

Story
Tagline
Cramming a lifetime of madness into easily digestible pieces since 2002
Introduction
Born. Grew up. Fucked up left and right, otherwise did my best.  Had more fun and good luck than I probably deserved.  Had a nice career in Big Iron on two continents.  Published a zine that, given its limited circulation, was surprisingly influential in both the US and Japan.  Took too many trips to the crazy well, to the point of being unfit for polite society and gainful employment.  I've been treated for various brain cooties on and off since 1985, in Australia and the US, but continuously since 2001.

Now I'm batshit crazy for sanity, and since 2002 I've been researching all I can about medications that I've failed, medications that worked but didn't like me after a time, medications that have kept working (so far), and medications I'll probably never take but people I know have.  I've accumulated over 15 linear feet of books and journals about the psychiatric and neurological conditions I've dealt with, the medications used to treat them, and general neurological, psychiatric, and pharmacological principles.

I've also been writing about these medications to help myself and my fellow nutjobs.  Mostly on bipolar.about.com at first, then on Crazymeds since late 2003. I'm able to earn a living by sharing what I've learned it instead of sucking off of the public teat on SSDI like I had to.

My fellow fossils might remember me from my zine days.  Way back in the 1980s - 1990s when I published Poppin' Zits!, wrote, helped edit, and published the online version of Factsheet Five, wrote and did assorted other stuff for MRR.

This review is from two years ago. I plan on going to PDX this week and staying here again. ----------------- I love this place, and know where I'll be staying whenever I have to go to Portland. They have everything I want out of a motel: it's quiet, the room is actually dark when you close the drapes, they use real keys instead of those stupid cards that always give me trouble, the wi-fi works immediately upon opening my laptop - without having to jump through any hoops like entering a room number or password - and stays on, cable TV, the room had a microwave & larger-than-most mini fridge, and there's a decent place to get coffee right across the street that isn't drive-through only. Plus they have something I know lots of people wish they could find in more hotels and motels: a bathtub & shower that are as good as what they have at home. The tub is deep enough to take a real bath, and there are individual controls for hot water, cold water, and turning on the shower. Screw that crappy one-knob-for-everything most places have. And there's a shower massage, but that's fairly common. The shower head itself might be a bit low for most people, but with everything else done right I don't care. All that for under $50 a night! I hope they never change the decor. It may not be to everyone's taste, but I think it's great.
