The most interesting trend I've seen yet in the current bear market for some Valley stocks - the old guard is gaining.
Today: Silicon Valley's high-flying stocks continue to come down to earth, but the names that built the region's iconic industry are actually gaining through the weakness.

With formerly high-flying Silicon Valley tech stocks getting slaughtered on Wall Street of late, earnings reports will be especially important this quarter. Yahoo and Intel got things started on a positive note today.
Today: Yahoo and Intel sate wary investors with first-quarter earnings reports that juiced their stock prices in after-hours trading. Also: Twitter and other tech stocks experience big bouncebacks.

While Apple remained on the top, its financial machinations drove investor returns to record highs, and the jockeying elsewhere on the list included Google topping Intel for the first time and Tesla zooming up the list. The biggest shift detected in our analysis of the annual SV150 was money returned to investors by dividends and stock repurchases: Silicon Valley tech firms spent twice as much as in any prior year on these tactics.
Silicon Valley technology companies produced record profits in 2013, but much of that cash was pushed into bank accounts and returned to investors at a level never before seen in the region’s iconic industry.

A side of Elon Musk you've never seen, thanks to insight from seldom-heard-from father and other relatives.
With SpaceX, the advanced rocket company he founded outside of Los Angeles in 2002, billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk hopes to employ recyclable rockets to save humanity from itself, blasting astronauts into outer space to one day build settlements on the Red Planet.
