The biggest shift detected in our analysis of the annual SV150 was money returned to investors by dividends and stock repurchases: Silicon Valley tech firms spent twice as much as in any prior year on these tactics.
Silicon Valley technology companies produced record profits in 2013, but much of that cash was pushed into bank accounts and returned to investors at a level never before seen in the region’s iconic industry.

The most interesting trend I've seen yet in the current bear market for some Valley stocks - the old guard is gaining.
Today: Silicon Valley's high-flying stocks continue to come down to earth, but the names that built the region's iconic industry are actually gaining through the weakness.
