Just because developers have figured out how to use this to decrease our wealth even further doesn't mean this is how it started. This has been disruptive technology until now and they ignored it and penalized it. They're still doing it. But this marks the shift.

Those are my feelings as well. But I no longer hope that they care about how we feel.

2-day gouache painting of Yi qi, the bizarre new membrane-winged scansoriopterygid. I wanted to see what the membrane would look like attaching further down on the body than in nearly every depiction I've seen so far, which show it attaching on the flank or at the armpit. I can't get behind a leg-attachment point for this critter; it makes more sense to me that a long-legged animal would want its legs free and flexible. If a sprawling mobile hip-joint can be established for scansors, I'd potentially change my stance on that. Anyway, here's a semi-new interpretation amidst a flood of recent restorations.

I'm definitely not convinced of powered flight for this critter, so here it is in an extended leap onto a log in pursuit of a Tiaojishan archisargid fly, Calosarugus.

#Surveillance  culture adapts via aesthetic.

At times you hear people complaining that they can't figure out what kind of business to start. Remember to look broadly for an unfilled need then use your skills and imagination to fill that need.

Take personal privacy. You'd be excused for immediately thinking of computers and encryption as the proper tools for enhancing personal privacy - http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/anti-surveillance-state-clothes-and-gadgets-block-face-recognition-technology - not fashion.

The things you know how to, the skills you bring to the table, have wider applications than you think.  That's where your skills can have the greatest leverage.

+Frenchy Capalini : thank you, friend. This was a superb talk. I hope you check out the rest of the recordings we did for the Gebser 2014 conference. Particularly Dr. Aaron Cheak's presentation on the alchemist de Lubicz and the hermetic "salt." Interesting implications perhaps for electronic culture and rare mineral surround we have nested ourselves in.

I've been going here to do my writing and research for graduate school the past two years, and I can tell you: this place is like home. Friendly owners, everyone knows each other, familiar with the locals. Excellent music selection – not too loud, not too quiet – and comfortable seating, with a lounge in the back if you need privacy. The coffee selection is excellent, but they also have fancy lattes, italian sodas, and delicious teas and pastries. Can't go wrong with this place. Oh yes, there's wifi as well! Finally, I'd like to give props to the artist who decorated the story and designed the menus. She sells her art (cards and other small items) in the store, if you're looking for home-made crafts. If you're looking for a high quality, down-to-earth coffee shop, this is the place. Check it out!
