I'm skeptical about this.  Freezer burn has nothing to do with the temperature, it has to do with portions of the food drying out as frozen water molecules sublimate from it (essentially a slow, uncontrolled freeze drying).  Newspaper should not help in this regard. Luckily I have a vacuum sealer.

I find it curious that you took Harris' quote about cultures potentially having different levels of moral "wealth" and immediately inferred he referred to Islam.

Also, I think Harris' referral to a "perfect weapon" has to include knowing who and where your enemy is; I'm not clear what would be considered a "better" weapon given the non-perfect state of weaponry these governments have at their disposal.

I do not understand where these "company rights" concept emerged from, but I think it was a fast-talking religious right lawyer.

Companies should not have rights.  Companies are public legal organizations, not people.  They have no independence from their owners.  Unless we start to levy "person trafficking" charges on business owners, we need to recognize companies for what they are... a legal contract with the State, and not a "person" with inalienable rights.

As such, the State should not be restricted in any way from regulating how a company behaves.  If the owner doesn't like the rules, he/ she can sell or dissolve the company.

Among the many enumerated rights in the Constitution, nowhere does the right to own and conduct a business appear.  It's time we stopped assuming that it did.

I think the approach is flawed here. Atheism is not an assertion that a god or gods do not exist, it is a rejection of the assertion that they do exist.  Attempting to determine if a deity is a possible entity does indeed put the burden of proof on the person asserting what a possible entity is.

It took me quite a bit to get people to take me at my word.  For example, while in jail, there was an article printed about my case.  Someone asked if it was about me.  I answered "Yes.  The person immediately said, "Don't lie."

Chomsky: "...As I’ve discussed for many years, in fact decades, benign intentions are virtually always professed, even by the worst monsters, and hence carry no information, even in the technical sense of that term..."

That seems pretty clear that he considers intentions to have no value when determining ethics... regardless of the fact that it is not the "professed" intentions, but actual intentions that color the ethical situation, and both sides of a conflict could in fact be arguing an ethical/ moral case (I am not a subscriber to the concept of objective morality).  I don't know how someone could read that differently such that Chomsky comes around to saying intentions do matter.

...and I gotta say, I agree with Harris (again)... I had to read Chomsky's replies to Harris multiple times just to make sure he wasn't answering what was a simple question Harris was asking. Using 1000 words to not say something is definitely a weird trick in my book.

For the hat trick, while the Affleck thing was a bit of an oversimplification, the tactic used is absolutely the same psychological ploy: demonization. It works, and Affleck/ Chomsky both did it.

This is called cherry picking facts.  Brain-to-body ratio, along with brain size, composition, and "speed"/ efficiency, are all hypothesized to contribute to self-awareness, but there is no definitive "smoking gun" that directly correlates self awareness to any of them.  This is one giant argument from ignorance.

I made a video about slavery, but I am a YouTube virgin when it comes to posting video.  Constructive criticism is welcome, as is response from Matt.
