Real excited about this. But what excites me the most is the amount of change we're going to be able to create as a result of the funding.

Gild, the startup that has built a service that helps companies find and hire software engineers, has closed on $13.5 million in a new round of funding...

In my opinion, this isn't a bad move.

I like companies that zig when everyone else is zagging - although keyboard phones aren't the "sexy" thing right now.

They just need to get the design right.

Summary: With sales of older BlackBerry 7 phones higher than new touchscreen models, BlackBerry is planning to re-tool its product line with keyboard handsets aimed at government and corporate clients.

I think you're right there Jeremy, if they don't get the design right it may be a bad move.

Facebook is becoming more pay to play for business pages. What do #marketers think about this?

I stopped using Facebook when I saw more ads than friend status updates. Pay to play... Pay for me to ignore.

Hey +Saul Fleischman, not sure you saw this, but Ritetag is mentioned in this Social Media Examiner article.

Thanks, +Jeremy Brown.  Actually, the author puts the other four first - though not one of them tracks what users get for using each hashtag, which  #ritetag  does.  But that's fine; anyone who has the RiteTag Chrome Extension will see us helping them choose hashtags - right inside Twitter (and another half dozen sites).

One has to think why something like this wasn't invented years back. It's so simple and brilliant!
When you work in an environment that's all about battling germs, bacteria, and disease, common sense dictates that you should always keep your hands clean. But that's easier said than done, at least until these clever PullClean sanitizer dispensing door handles are installed in every hospital, doctor's office, and clinic around the world.

Being in an office that has no air conditioning on a hot day in the city makes me want to buy a mini pool and stick it right next to my desk.

Facebook is becoming a cluttered place. The user interface is pretty bad in my opinion. So, I went to Twitter and voiced my opinion. Someone replied that Facebook is arguably the most visited site on the web, so it can't be all that bad. Facebook is the most visted website, but that doesn't mean the UI is good.

So for fun, I redesigned Facebook's dashboard (using Chrome developer tools).

Here's what I did:

- Removed the chat feature on the right hand side (honestly this could be minimized - like the old days)
- Removed links on the left sidebar and replaced with a drop down guide
- Moved the main news feed a little more center since that's the most important part of Facebook

Thoughts?

Introduction
Hi there! I'm Jeremy Brown.

Short version

Founder of StartupMoxie and Startups Give Back. Community builder, blogger, code dabbler, social media/content marketer for a startup in San Francisco (yes, I'm a millennial), and lover of the hustle.

Longer version

It all started my senior year of college. That's when I was introduced to social media marketing and blogging...thanks professor!

It was as if the heavens opened up and I could see where the world was going. And I wanted in.

That's when I started my first blog. But I wanted to do more than just write.

So, with a book in hand and my handy dandy search engine (Google), I taught myself how to code. I've always been intrigued by technology and I'm the type of person that likes to know how things work. It wasn't an easy road, but I'm glad I took this path.

I learned a lot about creating websites and it sparked an obsession for creating on the web. That's when I started creating some pretty interesting things for a newbie programmer, such as: a video game search and discovery engine and Plixeo.com.

The experience I received from the search engine and Plixeo is invaluable.

Fast forward to today and all the experience I've gained resulted in StartupMoxie - the vehicle I'm using to progress humankind. If you're an entrepreneur or looking to start a business, you should check it out.

That's me in a nutshell. I'd love to connect with you, so let's circle up!
