Two new humor pieces that might be fun for writers... Entirely Real Writing Contests and Submission Opportunities (not real)... and a piece called The Writing Business on Barnes and Noble, satirizing the life of a humor writer -- http://bit.ly/196eh0A

My newest on Medium, for anyone who's ever been invited to a wedding that seemed like a bit too much of ordeal to attend. "Q. The invitation just said 'August' and didn’t mention an exact date. When is the wedding?" "A. Haha-- that's part of the fun!"

I've got a new humor piece up at Medium about new food labels for the social media set.  Non-GMO?  Non-OMG!  WTF (What's The Fuzz) YOLO (You Only Lunch Once), etc.  Check it out!

My latest humor piece at Barnes & Noble is about a hotel you probably don't want to stay in.

" I'm Sam, our front-desk manager, head of housekeeping, lead bellman, and  the chef at our award-winning restaurant, 'Breakfast Not Included.'"

My newest @ mcsweeney's.  Recall the Yahoo you-can't-work-from-home issue from earlier this year.  This fictional company requires that everyone work from home.  Well, H.O.M.E., their new Headquarters of Mass Enslavement.  Free wifi.  Enjoy.  Share.  If there's one piece of mine that I should be able to get some traction with on Google+, shouldn't this be it?!  :)

The New York Times ran a story a few weeks ago about the difficulty of finding pet-friendly apartments in NYC. My newest humor piece, at Barnes & Noble, looks at the issue from a dog's perspective.

"SPOT JONES is a 6-year-old Dalmatian with a solid job at the  local fire station, good credit history, and no criminal record. He  seeks to rent a one-bedroom for himself and his pet human, Arnold, age  28, no history of biting. The question up for discussion is whether we  want to allow humans in the building."

Unrelated to anything going on in the news... my newest, on The Millions, about extra-long acknowledgments.

"A book may have only one name on the cover, but in reality it is written by millions of people — or at least this book was, particularly the sections I borrowed from volumes throughout the Rock Creek Public Library system...."

My latest piece is on Medium, "About our Serious News Magazine's Hip New Redesign, Yo.

"Our usual typeface has been redeveloped by our new and fascinating friends at Fat Momma Font Labs. They apparently felt that the serifs on some of our letters made the words look 'all [bleep]-ed up.'"
