Bookmarks in 4.0. I thought this might have been mentioned before but I can't find the thread/comment. I believe it was mentioned during beta, but no suggested changes occurred. I've been meaning to write this up for a while, but life got in the way.

I am most displeased with the fallback in functionality in bookmarks. The efficiency and logical placement of the new set up is highly lacking.

First, to do anything with bookmarks, there is now an occasional third tap required. For example: tap the quick menu, or whatever that icon is called, sometimes tap bookmarks header, tap bookmark to navigate to, or a sub-menu (three dot tap), followed by a sub-menu choice tap.

Previously, it was tap bookmark icon, tap bookmark to navigate or, long press to update, or sub-menu tap to see other tap options (delete, rename, etc). This felt much more efficient, intuitive, and is sorely missed.

Second, setting a new or updating an existing bookmark leaves much to be desired. As of now, if you scroll to the end of a chapter and have the last page-full of verses, you can only bookmark the top verse. The subsequent verses to the end of the chapter cannot be selected, unless I am missing how to do that. Ultimately, I really miss the ability to update the bookmark by tapping the icon next to the verse and dragging it to the desired location.

I'd really like to see the bookmarks improved on these two points in the next beta. It feels like a big step backwards in the functionality and utility of bookmarks. I hope I'm not alone in these annoyances. Fellow beta testers, please comment or +1 if you agree.

I'm unable to download the Book of Mormon in this latest version. Anyone else have this problem? I understand some content isn't available yet, but seriously, the Book of Mormon?

I've been volunteering so much time at Church this last couple of weeks, Google thinks I work there now.

Just taught my 12 year old son some Python by building a number guessing game with input validation. So simple, but effective to show basic Python structure and syntax. #ProudGeekDad

Finally got with the times and upgraded my 5200rpm laptop HDD to an Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD this weekend. Benchmarks before and after show a 5x faster read, and 4x faster write. Totally worth it. The responsiveness is epic now. Note: my laptop only supports SATA II, so YMMV.

Also used this upgrade as an opportunity to do a fresh install to Linux Mint 18 from 17.3 on my old HDD. Haven't had any issues with it, and everything is set up (that I can remember I needed).

Using +Shotcut to put together a video for my Church. It's a pretty good video editor. Just some advice, it will crash on you occasionally, so make sure you save often. And when you are exporting, do NOT touch anything else in the app until it's finished.
