Today I came across this really comprehensive blog about the great things to do in the region of Oberon - many, many great images.  http://emjaysquared.com/2015/05/05/the-big-lap-2015-oberon/comment-page-1/#comment-2322
The Castlereagh Highway was the route we chose driving from Mudgee to Oberon. We stopped for morning tea at a rest area near the Mount Piper Power Station ( about 20 kilometres north of Lithgow the...

More of our visitors should record their Jenolan adventure on their own blog. I think it must be fairly easy to start your own blog, and I noticed this article last week - http://stylecaster.com/a-beginners-guide-to-starting-a-blog/

Here are more great images from Dalma Demeter. I don't know which I like best - the lilypads or the helictite.

Amateur photographer, Christie Cooper, sent me these amazing photos from her recent visit to Jenolan. These are my favourites, especially the shot looking out at the clouds from the Grand Arch. It just goes to show that cloudy days are better for taking photos.

I was delighted to see that the hills around Jenolan got a dusting of snow last night.  Brrrrr!  Whipped out my camera!  What a great job I have!

Today I found something rather unusual and thought I would share it with you. This artwork, showing Jenolan's Carlotta Arch and Blue Lake, was created by Andy Boocock, artist, sculptor, writer, graphic designer and football historian.  http://andyboo3.deviantart.com/art/Jenolan-Caves-Blue-Mountains-NSW-532177650

One of our intrepid cave guides, Dr Anne Musser, has spent many hours sneaking up on our wild brush-tailed rock wallabies and photographing them, using her huge telephoto lens. Here are a couple of her photos.

More brilliant images from Christie Cooper. Which is your favourite? I think I like the clouds through the Grand Arch image best.

Nice place, the caves are definitely interesting and worth a visit. Not good is the bistro, the food is not good. And the toilets next to the ticket office are disgusting. Broken doors, no soap, broken hand dryer etc. Cannot understand that it is not possible to keep toilets clean and in good order, when tickets are so expensive!
Response from the owner - 3 weeks ago
Thank you for your comments about our public toilets, which I have forwarded to our maintenance manager.

Done few different tours of the caves. Price is good and very recommended. Few hours west of Sydney. Tours are guided and very safe. Really very good.

A nice little adventure off the beaten track, especially if you've got a good day to fill. Intricate caves with wonderful history and scale.

Absolutely amazing spot and a definite must-see for travellers. I was stunned when I went to the Jenolan Caves as I had heard about these caves before but I never expected them to be that beautiful. We did the self-guided tour and two guided tours (Orient cave and River cave tour) in one day and I still didn't have enough. Amazing crystals and very knowledgeable guides, I think it's worth every cent! The surroundings are gorgeous as well and I loved the lake nearby where you can watch platypus in the afternoon (when lucky!).

Fantastic cave tours! We did the 1:30 River tour and the 4:30 Chifley tour, leaving an hour in between to recharge at the cafe. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Caves were well developed and easy to navigate. Do note that the River tour takes you up and down a couple of steep ladders - consider yourself warned. :) A fun, informative and interesting adventure!
Response from the owner - 3 months ago
Hi Adam, Thanks for your great review! The River and Chifley are 2 of our best tours, in my opinion. On my first tour of the Chifley, I took about 300 photos! Come back soon.

Great enjoyable drive from Sydney along some very windy roads. We booked the Orient Tour and then the River tour. The Orient was nothing to write home about, you didn't get your money's worth - you didn't see anything very exciting and it was super touristy. A particular drawback is that people of all fitness and ages go on this one so whilst advertised as a 90 minute tour it would take a fit person 15-20 minutes - most of the time is waiting for less fit people to catch up. However, on the other hand the River cave was amazing. Marked as strenuous as there are 2000 steps and 3 ladders and therefore helpfully self-excludes a load of people. You really get your money's worth as you use up the full time, constantly moving and seeing so much of the underground world that is Jenolan caves. We were even lucky enough to see a baby rock wallaby inside. Outside the caves the food is mediocre and overpriced and the self-guided tour is a complete waste of time (but it is free). Driving into the place is really cool and you can stay there overnight. We would consider going back to do an adventure cave.

Hi Kerri, Thank you for your 4 star rating! If you asked any of our cave guides which is their favourite show cave at Jenolan, most would probably say the River Cave. You were really lucky to see a Brush Tailed Rock Wallaby. Did your guide mention that they are very rare? Definitely try a Plughole Adventure cave next time - guaranteed not touristy!
