The EB-5 investment visa was created by Congress in 1990 to help bolster the nation’s economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors.

Investors who apply for and receive approval for an EB-5 investment are rewarded with a green card, allowing both the investor and their families to live, study, work, and retire in the U.S.

DHS Changes Parole and Removal Policies for Cuban Nationals

On Jan. 12, 2017, the Department of Homeland Security announced changes to policies affecting Cuban nationals and their parole and expedited removal processes.

The announcements are part of an effort to normalize relations between the United States and Cuba that began when President Barack Obama reopened diplomatic relations and travel between the two countries in Dec. 2014.

DHS has adjusted its policies concerning Cuban nationals, including the decades old “wet-foot/dry-foot” policy, expedited removal policy, and a policy for Cuban medical professionals called the Cuban Medical Professional Parole Program.

From my perspective, the best way to combat Trump's actions on immigration is by applying constant pressure on congressional Republicans. Executive orders do not overrule actual legislation and congressional Republicans are much more sensitive to constituent pressure. The people have to apply political heat to their congressional representatives and senators to combat executive abuses. Employers, family members, co-workers, neighbors, friends, golf buddies, church members, etc. of affected persons must give Congress notice that Congress will be held accountable for holding Trump accountable.
