Message from Holly's Mom:
"Holly received her NoMo monkey yesterday! Thank you so much. It's very hard to be 16 and stuck at home! Today Holly is outside enjoying the sunshine and getting some exercise."
Go Holly and NoMo! We are SMAC!-ing it right along with you!! AND, that #IronMan shirt RULES, too.

And, others wanted to help her too.
I started a SMAC! Angel program where people can get on a list to be SMAC! Angels and fulfill requests just like this one. If you're interested, just email me email@example.com.
THANK YOU sooooo much.

While we may not have a cure, there is something we CAN do about this disease: Provide comfort to those with/impacted by cancer.
Today would be a great day to GIVE a cancer-crushing companion to someone who needs it....and contribute to research at the same time.
Spread the SMAC! GIVING feels sooooo good. ♥♥

Jeni has neuroendocrine cancer and just had surgery to remove her ovaries. As you can see, she took little NoMo along.
After surgery she said: "No problems/issues, no ovaries now which means less cancer in my body and no cancer on my ovaries anymore!" Yay!!
Jeni has a brain scan coming up. Let's show her how much we're SMAC!-ing that cancer with her!!!

- SMAC! Sock Monkeys Against CancerFounder, 2012 - presentSocial enterprise that puts true "creature comforts" into the arms of those with/impacted by #cancer. No one fights it alone.
- WTF? (Where's the Funding) for Lung CancerFounder, 2010 - 2013Politically incorrect social media movement that chronicled my Mom's battle with lung cancer. No, she never smoked. Campaign helps educate others that ANYONE can get #lungcancer, increase awareness and funding for the least funded cancer due to the smoking stigma.

In a nutshell...I don't "do" status quo.
Social enterprise. Entrepreneur. Social media/PR strategist. Journo. Change agent. Activist. Founder of "WTF? (Where's the Funding) for Lung Cancer?" social media campaign. Chocolate.
I began my career in 1997 as a TV news reporter for KMTV-Channel 3, the
CBS affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska. While working on my master’s degree
in journalism, I became an intern at KMTV, working as anchor/reporter
Deborah Ward’s protégé. After Deb wrote and edited her stories, I
pieced together my own version of the story and aggressively approached
the news director to continually critique my work. A short time later,
I was hired as a full-time general assignment reporter.
After three years in the news business, I made the transition to the “other side” - public relations - where I became press secretary for Omaha Mayor Hal Daub. In 1999, Mayor Daub’s approval rating among the voters of Omaha was at 32%. Nearly 2 ½ years later, despite his losing bid for re-election, my team helped catapult the Mayor’s approval rating to nearly 70% among Omaha voters.
Following my political stint, I jumped into agency life, where I built a public relations department at Ervin & Smith Public Relations and Advertising in Omaha from zero to four full-time employees in nine months. I was privileged to work on prominent accounts, such as Ameritrade (now TD Ameritrade), Lindsay Manufacturing, HearthStone Homes, among others.
I moved to Swanson Russell, Nebraska's largest advertising, public relations, communications firm in 2004 as Public Relations Counsel. I was promoted to public relations manager at Swanson Russell associates due to existing client and new business growth. I created a public relations department (Omaha office) from zero to five full-time employees in three years.
I provided PR/social media strategy development and execution of comprehensive public relations programs, primarily in consumer and business-to-business categories, for a wide variety of clients, such as Land O Lakes Purina Mills, Schering-Plough Animal Health, Creighton University Medical Center, Sergeant's Pet Care Products, Inc., among others.
Social media public/media relations strategy; media relations on international, national, regional, state and local levels; crisis communications; reputation management; media training; media spokesperson; media event planning and coordination; writing public relations materials, such as speeches, media statements, articles, talking points, news releases and various social media networking content.
