A gorgeous Violaceous Trogon we saw in Costa Rica. If you're looking for a great place to bird, head to Carara National Park. It's in a transition zone from tropical dry forest to tropical wet forest so it sees hundreds of species.

A beautiful red-eyed tree frog in Costa Rica. We saw this little guy on a night tour in the jungle of Drake Bay on the Osa Peninsula. The Osa is one of the most remote areas of Costa Rica and many scientists consider it to be one of the most biologically diverse places on earth.

Check out some of the other cool creatures we saw here: http://www.twoweeksincostarica.com/night-tour-tracie-bug-lady/ #frogs

We were psyched to find this hidden beach on Costa Rica's busy Central Pacific Coast. Most of the beaches in this area are gray sand, still beautiful, but nothing like the gorgeous white sands and clear turquoise water of Playa Blanca. It's not easy to get there (you have to cross some rocks on foot) but definitely worth the effort.
