We've probably been here 30 times over the past few years. It was our favorite, but has gotten progressively worse over the past few months. The new menu is more expensive, portions are smaller, and it takes longer than ever to get our food when we order carry out. It always takes longer than quoted now. I don't think we will be back. To be fair, the food is delicious, but that's just not enough to keep us coming back anymore. Disappointing.

I have used Maria twice, and Beth once. I've been very pleased with my experience in hiring Great Expectations Doulas! From the beginning, I felt like I was gaining a friend and not just birth support. A few years ago, my family moved to the area and I found myself unexpectedly pregnant. I had 3 children already (one Cesarean, 2 homebirth VBACs), but my last birth had been pretty traumatic and I was freaking out. I scoured a few online groups (mostly a DFW VBAC group on Facebook) and looked for recommendations for a doula and came across multiple glowing recommendations for Maria Pokluda. I knew I had found a winner when I talked with her on the phone and met in person. She put me at ease, gave me "insider information" about how things usually worked at the hospital I had chosen and with the provider I had chosen. She gave me so much confidence in my birthing choices, and respected me and empowered me all along the way. I blogged my birth story with her so I could save the memory forever and ever. :) This was my first experience HAVING a doula. I had been a little nervous about hiring one since I am a certified doula myself, but I was in great hands. I really feel that she kept my mid in the game so I could calmly approach my hospital VBAC birth. Two years later, I found myself pregnant again (not so unexpectedly this time - haha!), so my FIRST call was to Maria. Yes, I called her before I even set up an appointment with my new caregivers (we had moved yet again, but still within the area, thankfully!) or even before I told my extended family we were expecting. I wanted to make sure she penciled me in on her calendar! She was encouraging and helped me to feel good about yet ANOTHER new care provider. She gave me some tips and information that I had forgotten since the last pregnancy. Once I went into labor, she was actually with another client for their birth, but she had a back up doula available, Beth. I had never met Beth before, but when I did meet her the day that I was to give birth to my last child, we immediately hit it off. She jumped right in and got to know me and I got to know her. She helped me to stay focused and calm. She was ready to do things to keep me comfortable, and even helped with the delivery at the suggestion of the midwife. My baby ended up being over 11 pounds, and it was actually pretty awesome! I blogged about it as well and referred to Beth as my BUD (back up doula). :) Maria was able to come by a few minutes after the birth, so it was nice to be able to share my birth experience with both doulas! I am beyond pleased with my experiences with both Maria and Beth of Great Expectations Doulas. I'm so glad that the agency was started to provide women in our area with the support they're seeking during their pregnancies, births, and postpartum time. If you're interested in reading my birth stories, check out my blog (Jenn's RAQ) and search Birth Story. The one with Maria was my son Charlie and the one with Beth is the one about my 11 pound VBAC!

We have been here 45 minutes and just got our food. I'm looking at a couple that got here a few minutes after us and are still waiting for their food. They also charged us for an entire meal we didn't order. No one seems to care, either. It is like an angry mob near the registers. I wish we would have stopped at Chick-fil-a down the street instead, but we figured since this place was desserted, it would be a quicker stop on our super long road trip. Major fail. We will never, ever stop here again. I'd rather give my business to a place that deserves it.
