We discovered a great little pub with rooms in Hampshire this past weekend, near the village of Stockbridge.

The Peat Spade Inn is the ideal base for walking in the area, fly fishing, shooting and visiting the Bombay Sapphire Distillery, which is really stunning. #visithampshire
Sometimes you just get lucky. A friend of a friend or a colleague or someone you know from somewhere recommends a place to stay and it looks good online so you book it. We’ve all been on the other end of this. Where you book someplace whose website looks marvelous and it ends up you …

Child-free seating on flights
Are adults-only zones on airlines a good idea? More and more airlines are introducing the service.

As a frequent flier and mum I give the idea a thumbs-up. Read why in my blog post.
This week budget Indian airlines IndiGo announced child-free seating zones on all its planes. Some parents are in an uproar. I think it’s a great idea. I’ve been writing about travel for more than a decade, first in magazines and newspapers, now on this blog focusing on family travel. I remember what it was like …

Love this look at Dijon by WanderMum. On the list for the next trip?

Mustard. That’s what springs to mind when I think of Dijon. How about you? As we were to discover though, Dijon brings far more to the table than a spicy condiment. In fact my husband and I were surprised at how picturesque and historical the French city is and congratulated ourselves on choosing it as an … Read more...

One of the wonderful things about travelling is not just the activities and the big things, but also the little things: beautiful tiles, tufts of grass in a city park, the shimmer of dappled sunlight in a mountain stream.

Here are some of the things I loved about Costa Barcelona, in a visual diary. #BMLCostaBCN #CostaBarcelona
Discover the beautiful tiles and other details that make this area of Catalunya so distinct and special, on the blog about family travel with flair

Hotels for bee lovers
Relais & Chateaux hotels don't simply welcome guests to the land of milk and honey when they visit one of these luxury properties. At 56 of them, they actually make the honey too -- by keeping hives as part of an eco-friendly programme.

Read more about the project and some of the hotels where the buzz isn't just from high-profile guests.

Honey makes the world go round. It’s not the usual way that phrase goes, but it was certainly the motto at The Joy of Bees, an immersive art installation that took place this month in Soho with the brilliant guys at Bompas & Parr along with Relais & Chateaux. At the event, you could drift …

Best of Moliets et Maa: Skateboarding lessons for kids

Need a break from the beach? Kids can learn to skateboard in the quaint town of Vieux Boucau with the patient help of Julien from Skatelandes. Here was our experience.

http://www.jenography.net/2016/10/best-moliets-et-maa-skateboarding-vieux-boucau/
They say you shouldn’t live through your kids but sometimes you just gotta. I’ve always wanted to learn to skateboard but when I was younger I never had the facilities, the mentor, or the chutzpah to get out among a bunch of boys and fall on my, er, face. This deficiency has always caused me regret. …

Traveling with teens

An English country house hotel that tweens and teens will love. We visited Cowley Manor in the Cotswolds with 2 tween girls. Here's what they liked about the stay.

Take my advice when you visit Cowley Manor. Even if the Isamu Noguchi table in the sitting room is a little ill-placed, don’t try to move it yourself. Even when you know the freeform glass top merely rests on the swiveling wooden legs and even when you think you’re being careful and it just needs …

We grabbed a burger here with some relatives before they left Austin for a long drive. When we arrived it was packed and we thought, Oh no, this is going to take ages. In fact we ordered, got our food and ate within an hour. The crinkle cut fries are really yummy, and the burger delicious. I like it that they keep it simple: you can get burgers here and a handful of other things (Frito pie, shakes). The location we went to on Braker Lane was immaculately clean and the staff really gung-ho. Try the fresh-squeezed lemonade too.
