Broke my heart to report on this story...
Sarah McCausland wanted to see and learn about the world around her. So, in high school, she traveled to Australia with her choir group. On a church service trip, she helped build a house in Cuba. And for fun, she bought a five-inch Icelandic syntax book and taught herself the language, friends and family recalled.

From the shore of the Des Plaines River, the firefighters could see the young buck's head poking out of the icy, cold water. No one knew how long it had been stuck or how much longer it could survive. So the crew quickly devised a plan to save the animal without getting hurt.

Mike and Margo Sembach hear the second year is harder.
Other parents who have lost children tell them this. The discussions posted on grief websites for parents say it too.
But the Sembachs don't understand how it can get any worse. They know Micalah, their only child, is gone. She and three other teens died in a car crash one year ago Tuesday on a rural road near Wilmington, about 60 miles southwest of Chicago. And every day her parents feel the loss.
Mike and Margo Sembach hear the second year is harder.
