My little girl is starting 4th grade next week. I don’t know why, but I have been more excited about having a 4th grader than any other year before this one. Maybe I’m just weird like that, but I do have a few reasons. I loved 4th grade. I look back on my…

Any of these girls look familiar?
When she was four her best friend was your best friend’s daughter. While the two of you sipped coffee and gossiped about the neighbors, they dressed up their dolls and pretended to be mommies in th...

A few thoughts on breastfeeding... during World Breastfeeding Week.  Let me know your thoughts, too.
There.  I have your attention.  I used the words "breast" and "sexy" in my title, which led you here. I am writing this piece in honor of World Breastfeeding Week. I've thought about sharing this b...

You know when something hits you between the eyes?  This did.  The biggest lie we tell our children (without saying a word).
It has been awhile since I read the book “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” by Robert Fulghum.  It was in my pre-parenthood days.  It was so insightful, so refreshing, so inspiring when I read it. Then I had children, and now I have an entirely different perspective as I’m living […]

I am admittedly not the greatest housekeeper in the world. I could blame others for this problem of mine.  At times I actually have blamed genetics or habits picked up in childhood and even the people who live under our roof. The inhabitants of our home…
I am admittedly not the greatest housekeeper in the world. I could blame others for this problem of mine.  At times I actually have blamed genetics or habits picked up in childhood and even the people who live under our roof. The inhabitants of our home make it a challenge to keep up with the mess. …

School is starting soon and like many parents I am beyond excited. I’ve never really been able to relate to the mothers that tearfully drop their kids off on the first day of school. Yes, I may have shed a tear or two as I drive off from campus, but my…

A few thoughts on the Hollywood hype of breastfeeding.  What I'm NOT saying in this post: that moms who breastfeed aren't sexy.  I just think there is a difference between "sexy" and "beautiful"... what do you think?

A messy life... full of Grace.
Introduction
What exactly is a GracefulMess? It is someone that navigates the "messes" of life with that feeling that they just don't quite have it all together. Often feeling inadequate, incomplete, and flustered... these "messes" may feel as though they just don't always stack up. BUT the best part is the "grace"! Grace is when we get what we don't deserve. Grace is loving the unloved. Grace is forgiving the unforgivable. Grace is staring fear in the face and being fearless. Grace is something we are given freely with God's love. I started this community to show how I navigate my GracefulMesses... they may even sound a bit like yours.

Bragging rights
Love my husband and our two sweet children. Living life the best way we can as Georgia transplants in Maine.
