Redpack Tomatoes is giving away TWO crock-pots every day for 22 days! Just in time for fall comfort food cooking.
Just in time for fall, I got a slow cooker recipe kit from RedPack Tomatoes! I certainly did not grow enough tomatoes in my garden for cooking into the winter so these ready to go cans of tomatoes are dinner time lifesavers. ...

This Saturday I am walking to raise money for the American Heart Association. I have friends and family that are affected by heart conditions so this cause is important to me. Please donate if you can, even a small amount helps! Thank you!

If I were going to go on vacation right now... pugs & bunnies.
We had too much going on this winter, Aaron's classes & new job, my volunteer work, to take a vacation. I started thinking though... if I could go anywhere where would it be? Bunnies and pigs. A short while ago I saw this v...

Oscar and Hugo finally made Buzzfeed. They are pugs #20 (not the ones pictured here)
Lighten up, pugs. It's just another day.

I'm down with a "maker movement"!
NPR Social Tools
Technology talk is often focused on software and programs that run inside our devices. But a "maker movement" is driving interest toward making the physical devices themselves.

Salads are perfect for summer meals! Here are some tasty ones.
Some summer nights you just do not feel like turning on a hot stove or oven. Salads are the answer! Light, crisp and refreshing. And they can have lots of flavor. I never thought of using canned tomatoes for a salad but it's ...

There have been a few articles about how brands need to stop complaining about Facebook changing the algorithm for seeing brand page posts in your newsfeed. I don't agree and here is why.

I CHOSE to follow Starbucks, smart USA and Martha Stewart pages on Facebook because I wanted to see their posts.

I rarely see posts from them now. Funny pictures from Smart, recipes from Martha, specials deals from Starbucks.

But because of the change of the newsfeed algorithm, brands have to buy ads to get seen by eyeballs on Facebook. And they are targeting ads to people that aren't following them.

So now my newsfeed is populated by ads from brands I HAVE NOT chosen to follow. Hello office dress yoga pants ad! Anyone else see that one?!

I would rather see posts from brands that I like and choose to see rather than paid ads.

What do you think? Does this make sense? I wonder how this will pan out.

Eat24 hates how Facebook has cut back on pages' organic reach and has threatened to kill its Facebook page. Here's why that's a terrible idea.

Good day for Klout, not so much for Candy Crush.
As suggested by Re/Code last month, CNN is reporting that the acquisition of Klout by Lithium is official. For those not familiar with it (and, I suspect, those not familiar with Klout will be confused by its need), Klout is a service that tracks individual's influence across social media. It [...]

Why I'm trying out a mix of standing AND sitting at the office.
Standing for too long during the day can be a problem, just as sitting can be.
