Over the last seven years I've taken a number of courses and workshops at Vantage Point and those educational opportunities have enriched my career development. I strongly support Vantage Point's mission of "Transforming Not-For-Profit Leadership" and it means a lot to me to be able to give back to the sector by supporting other leaders on their own career journeys. It was an honour to be featured in Vantage Point's recent Annual Report.
Spend any amount of time with Jennifer Breakspear and you'd never guess she is one busy woman. When you work with her, she's focused, deliberate, committed and lively. As the Executive Director for Options for Sexual Health, the largest sexual and reproductive health care provider in Canada, ...

Last month I presented an IGNITE session at the NTEN: Nonprofit Technology Conference in Austin. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with amazing thought leaders and change makers and I came away new friends, fresh ideas, and limitless possibilities to pursue. Here is the video of my presentation in which I discuss the value of making the most of magic moments and connections.

How do I know that I have an awesome job? Reading/thinking/talking about things like female ejaculation is all in a day's work.

Nicholas Kristof rightly points out that "...sometimes a girl with a book is more powerful than a drone in the sky." He chronicles the recent failures of the U.S. to advance peace and development through empowering girls and women. Unfortunately, Canada has also failed miserably at this vital goal. It is not going too far to claim that peace and development are inextricably linked to women's rights and one cannot advance without the other. Canada's declining commitment to  international development and the dilution of family planning within our international strategy is shortsighted and counterproductive.

I invite you to join me for Opt’s second Sexual and Reproductive Health Day (SRH Day) breakfast. We have named sexual health education activist and founder of Scarleteen.com, Heather Corinna, as our 2015 Sexual Health Champion. Heather will be presented with the award at our Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Day Breakfast Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Vancouver hotel. CBC’s Man about Town, the Fabulous Fred Lee, will host this exciting fundraising event. Sophisticated sex comedy duo, The Wet Spots, and the femme-fabulous singing extravaganza, Femme City Choir, will entertain.
I encourage you to purchase tickets to the SRH Day breakfast now as they are going fast. Please click below for ticket sales and event information.
Proceeds from this event will directly support Opt’s sexual and reproductive health services, education programs and Sex Sense information line.
The 2015 SRH Day breakfast is made possible by the support of our sponsors; Creative B’stro, NewGen Technologies, and the BC Teachers' Federation.
Sexual and Reproductive Health day is one day of the year when official attention is turned to how we can all best protect ourselves and ensure that we enjoy good sexual and reproductive health throughout the year and throughout our lives. One of the best ways to do this is to prevent, test and treat sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and we think the best way to sum that up is:

 Heart Your Parts
When you Heart  Your Parts you enjoy them.
When you Heart Your Parts you protect them.
When you Heart Your Parts you get tested.
When you Heart Your Parts you get treated.

I hope you will join me for breakfast on Thursday February 12th.
Thank you.
Jennifer
Opt's 2nd Annual Sexual and Reproductive Health Day Breakfast is fast approaching! Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Day is a time to promote awareness of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and encourage all Canadians to enjoy happy and healthy sex throughout the year.

Ok this looks totally worthwhile. A day devoted to how those of us in the not4profit/social values sector use technology. I've got my ticket already. You know you want to go :-)

He has a way of summing up magnificence such that it can be applied to the mundane. And when Chris Hadfield says "Fear not", I listen.
There's an astronaut saying: In space, “there is no problem so bad that you can’t make it worse.” So how do you deal with the complexity, the sheer pressure, of dealing with dangerous and scary situations? Retired colonel Chris Hadfield paints a vivid portrait of how to be prepared for the worst in space (and life) -- and it starts with walking into a spider’s web. Watch for a special space-y performance.
