I've spoken before about genre hopping when writing, but after completing a short story recently I've realised that I'm actually so much more suited to writing comedy than drama. To the point that I'm really surprised it took me this long to figure out! Now I'm armed with a few new story and novel ideas, I'm really pumped about this change of direction.

Has anyone else ever realised they were traveling the wrong writing path?

I used to try and do fantasy (typical LOTR-type themes) but always stalled out or sent the story on a weird dark path. Wasn't until my wife read some of my poetry and said I tended to write creepy stuff that I settled into horror niche. Sometimes it's obvious to everyone but us :P
