After reviewing all the pictures of our recent trip I realize I almost wasn't there. I will aspire to give my kids (plural hopefully) a legacy of moments with me they would be too young to remember otherwise by getting into the picture to mark the moment regardless of real or imagined imperfections.
As mothers, we are always the ones with the camera taking pictures of our love ones. I'm sure you have thousands and thousands of images of your children and I bet you're only in a handful.I'm such an advocate on mothers being in the pictures with their children. Why?Simply because this…

My feet are perfectly happy. They don't like to touch others. :)

Such a wonderful reminder
Since I am almost 40 now -- God, I love saying that -- I finally know what beauty is. To me, beauty is the beach near my house, puttering around my kitchen, the laughter of a good friend, my dogs' stinky fur, Amma's inability to say the letter R, Tis...

Come on, we're Canadians ffs, we're better than this.
For the past month, Shawn Russell's three kids — aged 5, 8, and 10 — have had to spend their lunch breaks inside the school office "watching everyone else play outside."

Well plenty of this seems familiar. I think my reviews as far back as elementary school have included similar language. I'm going to take that as a win and file it under not letting the bastards get you down.
There's one adjective that's never used to criticize men, yet it shows up at an alarming rate in women's performance reviews.

Found myself a brand new obsession in needle felting thanks to a stop at a pretty magical toy studio on Hornby Island. Now Sterling's getting a hand crafted crib mobile! Making great progress until I broke the needle :'( I guess it's off to Baaad Anna's I go... darn. ;)

Accidentally hit the 'whale song' button on the Sleepy Sheep sound machine for our little man early this morning and now all I can think about is the lonliest whale in the world.
For decades now, scientists at the NOAA have been tracking a mysterious whale song that sounds like the ghostly howls of a drowned tuba player. The sounds have been identified as belonging to a single whale, who sings at a frequency unlike any other whale in the world. Dubbed "52 Hertz" after the frequency range in which he typically sings, the animal has been called the loneliest whale in the world, since his love songs seem destined to go unans...

The pasta is decent, certainly better than your average chain restaurant, and comes in literally enormous, guaranteed-to-have-lunch-for-tomorrow portions making it ideal for budget conscious students who also don't mind waiting in line to eat in.

I've been taking my vehicles to Amir for at least three years and he's always given me great service. The mechanics are speedy and competent and I haven't seen better prices for parts or labour. In the past I've been talked down to or ignored by mechanics while the conversation about my car was directed at my husband (who is not a car guy) and that has never ever been the case at the Minit-Tune. I cannot say enough good things about Amir and his team. If you're looking for an honest, competent and cost-effective mechanic you need to go see Amir at the Minit-Tune on Canada Way.

Ole Ole is a great little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. Just walk in and take your pick of the 8 or so tables and the owner will greet you with a smile and the special of the day. I loved the Chicken Flautas tonight but I'm dying to try the Chilies Reyanos, Carnitas and the Choriqueso. I've eaten at Ole Ole several times and always found the food hot and delicious, the service outstanding, and the portions more than satisfying. Plus the most expensive thing on the menu is $10. It's THE place for honestly authentic, homestyle Mexican food. And seriously you must try the hot chocolate - I don't know what that little something they put in there but it's truly unbelievable.

The pizza options all sounded delicious, we went with the Joint Special and the Soprano, which were both great for pan pizzas. I prefer the less greasy hand tossed style but will definitely choose Stan's Pizza Joint again.
