A great read for consultants whose advice truly makes a difference for their clients!  I can't tell you how many people have turned my "free" advice into big profits and then come back for more freebies.  There's a lot more that goes into the services you provide than just that hour of your time, and I'm glad Adrienne Graham exposes the whole picture here. Honey, I know! I saw that post this week and pinned it. This is my 2014 mantra. Saying no to brain picking and free consults. Saying yes to paying clients who want to invest.
I've been thinking about this and I realized I'm not helping people with free advice. Here is why. (And this has happened.) I offer free advice. Good advice. But the person did not pay for it, so she has no buy-in and doesn't act on the advice. She then looks to others for free help and advice, telling them that I already helped her. This makes me look bad because she made no gains from my advice. The problem wasn't my advice but that she didn't act on it. And she didn't act because she didn't value the advice because it cost her nothing. Or at least she was not ready to act on it. Either way, charging would have filtered me off her radar or caused her to act on the consult.

Has anyone had an issue with post images not resizing? I have a client who wants to use the image editor inside the post to choose 90%/80%/70% and the change takes effect on the editor, but when you preview the post, the image is still full size. She was using Thesis before (ugh) and didn't have this problem, but since I installed her new Genesis design, resizing images doesn't work anymore. Any ideas?

Great article from +Jimmie Lanley on how to get testimonials for your service business.  Testimonial-gathering is part of my normal workflow (right before the final sign-off!) and I can't tell you how much it helps people who are "on the fence" about whether to hire you.

I went to South Seas Island Resort for a conference in January. My room was harborside; very comfortable with a nice, big bath. We had dedicated rooms for all the events and the service was incredible. The wait staff was polite, kind, and super helpful...they even catered a luau on the beach for us our last night and the food was *stellar.* It looked like they had great amenities for families on the island, though we were so busy in sessions that I didn't get to see everything. Can't wait to take my family back later this year!
