I found a wood louse on an old stump. We are now good friends and he told me his name is Otto.

Exploring an old barn. The resident owl left a lot of evidence to suggest he has been eating well.

I've been coming here for plants for almost a decade. Three years ago when my steps and porch had to be replaced and rebuilt much of my front yard was reduced to mud given the necessity for heavy equipment. At first I was upset but I quickly realized this was my opportunity to landscape my yard the way I wanted it as I had inherited a poorly planned and executed garden from the previous owner of my home. My first stop was Bosky Dell and Lory was kind enough to sit down with me and help create a master plan. The first step was that she sent me away without a single plant to go find some boulders that we agreed would be the backbone of my new garden. A couple weeks later I returned with pictures of my muddy yard and planted stonework. We then reviewed plant that would work given the amount of light and narrowed it down further based on my vision and preferences. That day I left with a few small trees and some ferns to start with and to help avoid erosion issues (this is the Pacific NW). Many trips back with more pictures and free advice and now my yard looks amazing. The neighbors constantly stop and admire my hard work (and Lory's advice). People have knocked on the door to ask questions and I am constantly receiving compliments when I am out working. Plus I have more wildlife than ever coming through the yard. Birds perch on the rocks, squirrels bound through the plants and down the little paths, and both the bees and butterflies are constant visitors. Bosky Dell has an amazing selection of shade-loving and sun-worshipping plants (I have a sunny alpine-type garden) with helpful and knowledgeable staff. This isn't just a business, it's a labor of love, and that love is apparent in how much time Lory and her staff have spent with me helping to get my native landscaping established.
