Had some fun writing up this one on #BurningMan  for the +Evolve Money blog.
When heading into the desert, you need to be prepared. When it's for Burning Man, you have even more costs to consider. Here are typical Burning Man costs.

Welp, can't say Oregon doesn't deserve this.
John Oliver, the host of the new HBO show Last Week Tonight, had some fun with Cover Oregon last night. We get it, Oregon, you people live in a cartoon, Oliver said. Everywhere you go, you hear t

12 Examples of Native Ads (And Why They Work)

Despite all the hype, native advertising remains a fuzzy concept for most marketers.

According to our 2014 status report:

 - 49 percent of respondents don’t know what native advertising is
 - 24 percent are hardly familiar with it
 - Another 24 percent are somewhat familiar
 - Only 3 percent are very knowledgeable

So, given the lack of awareness (and people mistaking it for other things, like sponsorship), we thought it would be a good idea to walk you through about a dozen examples of native advertising — and why they work.

And that's exactly what you'll discover in tomorrow's post. Stay tuned. Update: the post is live:

Freelance content strategist focused on helping social businesses and nonprofits increase revenue and impact through content.
Introduction
I'm a freelance copywriter and content strategist. My work focuses on combining web copy, blogging, SEO and other content marketing strategy to help clients increase website traffic, leads, and sales.

My most recent work includes developing marketing materials including website landing pages and print collateral for Portland Community College’s Small Business Development Center.

My focus includes many industries including Benefit corporations, nonprofits, and socially-minded businesses as well as finance, education, careers, and more.

I own a bike that make me happier than owning any car. I was a child model, and I have (amazing) evidence to prove it.

Vicki recently helped me negotiate a job offer which resulted in a 15% increase in salary and benefits for a new job. I'm extremely glad I asked for her help, and I would definitely recommend her services to anyone who needs negotiation or marketing help.

I received a gift certificate to another bike shop, but I just couldn't go. I decided to pay to have my bike fixed at Seven Corners instead because I just trust and like them too much to go elsewhere. On my most recent trip, I wasn't even sure how much the fixes to my bike would cost, but I knew Corey and crew would take care of me. They had my bike repairs finished within the day at a price that I would've gladly doubled for the same service. I definitely recommend Seven Corners Cycles for friendly service at a fair price without bike elitist attitude. I'll never go anywhere else in Portland.

Great all-around experience. No-pressure sales, but staff was there to help when you need it. A great selection of locally-made mattresses at great prices. And I got free delivery because I rode my bike in!

I love coworking at Collective Agency! Spacious and comfortable space with fun solopreneurs/remote workers around to share it with. I really enjoy working here instead of other spots. Unlike the library (which has ridiculous hours), I don't have to worry about my laptop being stolen when I leave my seat. It's more comfortable than a coffee shop, and I don't have to keep buying drinks all the time. It's much easier to sit here and be productive for 8+ hours a day than anywhere else for me.

Matt was very helpful in answering my tax questions related to being self-employed. My meeting with Matt was friendly, and I really appreciated how he's not all about billing you for every dollar that he can. I can tell he's most interested in doing a great job at a reasonable rate. Definitely recommended.
