Today Catholic celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We believe that Mary didn't die, but was taken up to heaven. There is a beautiful bronze statue at a local cemetery that depicts ...

The Catholic Foodie was mentioned in the National Catholic Register!
My friend Sarah A. Reinhard published this awesome article over the weekend in the National Catholic Register. Sarah is one of my favorite people. She ROCKS! I love everything that she had to say in the article, but the following brought a BIG smile to my face:
"When I was testing the book out (though not, ahem, by actually cooking anything out of it…yet), I found that, glory of glories, it would lay flat on my counter, on my bed, on my couch: I could actually USE it in the kitchen! It’s magazine-sized, too, so those of us in denial about the state of our vision have hope of using it and getting the measurements right.
"And if I know Jeff Young, that’s what he had in mind. He poured a lot of his heart and passion into this cookbook, and it shows. But the reason he did it, the driving force, is so that we would get off our couches and away from the takeout order line.”
THANK YOU, SARAH!

Food Network began airing Good Eats back in July of 1999. That was 16 years ago! Over 14 seasons, Alton Brown produced 249 episodes. All of that came to an end in 2011. In May 2011, on The Catholic Foodie podcast, I said goodbye to one of my all-time favorite cooking shows: Alton Brown’s Good Eats. Today on The Catholic Foodie Show, we reach back into the archives of The Catholic Foodie podcast to listen to my tribute to the fun and quirky Good Eats.

On yesterday’s show we continued our conversation about the readings from Sunday's Mass – Jesus' Bread of Life discourse from John, Chapter 6 – and I shared with you suggestions on how to make your grocery dollars stretch. You can save money by regrowing your vegetables... in water! That's right. Lettuces, green onions, cabbages and more can be regrown in containers of water in your kitchen. Learn how by clicking here: http://catholicfoodie.com/save-money-regrow-your-veggies-the-catholic-foodie-show

Sunday’s Mass readings were all about feeding and being fed. From Elisha’s multiplying food and feeding 100 people in the Second Book of Kings to Jesus feeding the 5000 in the Gospel of John, we are reminded – as the Responsorial Psalm tells us – that “the hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.” Get the scoop here: http://catholicfoodie.com/feeding-the-multitude-or-just-your-neighbor-parts-1-and-2

The Catholic Foodie... Where food meets faith!
Introduction
The Catholic Foodie brings much more to the table than merely recipes and reviews. The show highlights how food - good food - can be a sign to us of God’s love and care for each of us and our families. The tagline, "where food meets faith," speaks volumes about the importance of family, which is so often developed around the kitchen table.
