I'm having problems with DNS resolution trying to tether while connected to Sprint. :( ETA: this is in Boulder, CO

Sadly, none of the "fixes" mentioned here help:

Slick - geeqie.org linux image viewer has a "similar image" search. I used it to find a full-res photo of a thumbnail I had sitting around.

Gov't website: we had to cut client-side form validation, but hey, we sprung for this "clippy-esque" virtual idiot.

Any opinions as to whether to install a vanilla Ubuntu vs a chromebook-tailored one? I've used HugeGreenBug's Ubuntu 14.04 for C720 before (https://www.distroshare.com/distros/get/12/) and was happy with it.

The site notes touchpad kernel modules, microphone fixes, power/suspend fixes, special key fixes, etc. Seems like it's all good, but I'd always lean toward an unmodified distro unless functionality is broken. (I also lean toward LTS, but that's just me.)

Anyone spent time with vanilla Ubuntu have problems with any of these things?

Modders beware: my upgraded MyDigitalSSD 128gb aftermarket drive just died, exactly 3 months old. :(

It was great to start with in my C720, sadly, the low cost was not worth the lost work.

I've updated hxScout (hxcpp profiling tool) to v0.5.0. It's more responsive, I fixed a crash (when closing a session on windows), and I made additions to the user guide.
