Test drove it... nice car, acceleration is better in my Leaf, adequate in the soul, Leaf is roomier, and the backup camera in soul is good... all around cameras in loaded SL Leaf are much better. The range is somewhat better in the Soul EV (93) than the Leaf (84) by 9 EPA rated miles so for some folks that could make the difference depending on length of commute. Soul EV has CHAdeMO popular DC quick charger interface as standard feature on plus and std models. Leaf has CHAdeMO as optional upgrade on S and SV models, standard only on SL model.
Reviewer mentioned Rav4EV which is a marvelous but unsupported (unupgraded) by Toyota, discontinued, California compliance only car with no quick charger. The Mercedes mentioned is also a compliance car, lacking any quick charger option. Without a quick charger interface these cars are nearly impractical for most folks. (Correction: There will soon be an aftermarket add on for these Tesla powertrain vehicles. Check out shop.quickchargepower.com

Only Nissan, and Tesla are seriously making useful EVs... and maybe Kia is joining them as they are rumored to be increasing the markets from mostly compliance states to many more and they already sell internationally also.
