This is great news if you wanted but didn't yet buy a LEAF. More range and better warranty on the battery of the high end models. Over 107 EPA rated miles of range. Should be enough for most folks local metro area driving.
The new 2016 Nissan LEAF now comes with 107 miles of all-electric range on the SV and SL trims, as well as some nifty new features inside

Glad to see Tesla showing well their support of the GLBT Community. Most of the Bay Area/Silicon Valley tech community were there. Did anyone count how many Apple Employees were there? It was well over 5k i'd guess.

Nice review... They don't offer the Van here in the states or I would have just bought one. Really would like the camper van or caravan version. Hoping that when Nissan does release it here it comes with maybe 20 to 30 percent more battery to fix the charge time to drive time ratio.

I'm guessing you had no ability to use a Level 2 charger at 240volts and 32 Amps. Or better yet a CHAdeMO dc quick charger. Makes the range charging hops much more reasonable.
My family and I are in the SF Bay Area and can drive to the extremes of the range easily as there are multiple quick chargers in almost any direction from our home. 80% in 20 to 30 minutes works well for meal and restroom breaks. Wouldn't want to go more than a couple hops from home most days but as the chargers get more ubiquitous it becomes simpler to make longer trips without planning.

My family has 2 LEAFs now. My wife and I do 99% of our driving in them. Only borrow the Prius or big Ford Flex wagon for the giant highway trips in a hurry.

Test drove it... nice car, acceleration is better in my Leaf, adequate in the soul, Leaf is roomier, and the backup camera in soul is good... all around cameras in loaded SL Leaf are much better. The range is somewhat better in the Soul EV (93) than the Leaf (84) by 9 EPA rated miles so for some folks that could make the difference depending on length of commute. Soul EV has CHAdeMO popular DC quick charger interface as standard feature on plus and std models. Leaf has CHAdeMO as optional upgrade on S and SV models, standard only on SL model.

Reviewer mentioned Rav4EV which is a marvelous but unsupported (unupgraded) by Toyota, discontinued, California compliance only car with no quick charger. The Mercedes mentioned is also a compliance car, lacking any quick charger option. Without a quick charger interface these cars are nearly impractical for most folks. (Correction: There will soon be an aftermarket add on for these Tesla powertrain vehicles. Check out shop.quickchargepower.com for more info)

Only Nissan, and Tesla are seriously making useful EVs... and maybe Kia is joining them as they are rumored to be increasing the markets from mostly compliance states to many more and they already sell internationally also.

If you are at all curious about driving electric vehicles, These events are a great place to get answers about it from everyone involved. Vendors, drivers, charger makers and providers. I will be attending 3 of them. Hope to see you there.
As an example of how far the reach of electric vehicles has grown, you need to look little further than the growth of National Drive Electric Week. Now in its fourth year, Drive Electric Week began life as National Plug In Day. This year, 115 cities in 35 states and countries abroad will showcase...

Excellent video explaining our Civil war.

Was the Civil War about anything other than slavery?  This video by a West Point colonel-historian examines the issue in devastating detail, with colorful illustrations. He is direct, firm, and clear.  There is no excuse for romantic-nostalgia for treason, when the core and only reason for that treason was so despicable.  Yes, the rebs fought well.  Respect that! But there is no other basis for respect for the Confederate side of any phase – even the current one – of our ongoing Civil War.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcy7qV-BGF4

And yes, it is ongoing. There is, indeed, no other issue tearing America apart. http://davidbrin.blogspot.com/2014/09/phases-of-american-civil-war.html

(One critique.  Col. Ty Seidule does not mention the fact that Southerners or their sympathizers actually ran the U.S. Federal Government for most of the thirty years preceding Lincoln’s election in 1860, running roughshod over “states rights” in many matters, such as the Fugitive Slave Act which, in 1852, unleashed swarms of southern irregular cavalry raiding parties across northern states, crashing into homes and dragging neighbors off, into bondage.) “States Rights” is an absolute historical lie.  It was never a southern thing till they lost control of the federal government in 1861.

Just imagine how much less electricity we'd need if we stopped refining oil. Could run on simply wind, solar, and storage. forget oil.

Musk oversold the updates... for all the fuss it should have been at least videos and live demos of what he was talking about.  Pushing out the PR like he did and then not really showing it off was very anticlimatic. Steve Jobs could have taught him a thing or two about showmanship. Oh and one more thing...

Nice demo of the coolest of the electric cars... Tesla Model S85D. Now with 2 motors and a cool Autopilot which will keep improving and adding features in the years you own it. Really cool. Blows away most other tech cars.
