Pin Of The Day - 04-14-14 -5 Ways Pinterest Can Help Your Blog

Today's Pin Of The Day comes from the always awesome +Peg Fitzpatrick
Peg mentions in her article how +Pinterest can help drive significant traffic to your blog.  She gives 5 great tips on how Pinterest can help:

1.  Create a separate, pinnacle image.
+Canva just came out with some great new Pinterest templates. You can read my review of Canva here:

2.  Create a pin on Pinterest for each post.
Make sure to also use a call to action!  I'd also add to go back to older blog posts and create a optimized image for Pinterest to get some more traction on older articles.

3.  Share the link to the pin with a #PinOfTheDay hashtag.
I've found it also is a great way to curate and promote others content.

4.  Cross promote your pins!
Pin It For Later is really effective on Google Plus!

5.  Register your blog on Pinterest for Business for analytics.
This is well worth the time to set up.  The analytics feature is a must to see how your pins are doing on Pinterest.

Make sure to head over and read Peg's entire article for even more tips and resources!

5 Ways That Pinterest Can Help Your Blog

Pinterest and blogging may seem like they are unrelated but bloggers can boost their website traffic and build their readership by using Pinterest. Think of +Pinterest as the frosting and sprinkles on your cupcake of web traffic, it seems like pretty eye candy but also adds a lot of flavor and interest! With a few smart steps each time you publish a blog post, you can bring traffic to your website from Pinterest.

Working with these easy to follow tips, you’ll start getting traffic from Pinterest right away and posts have a very long life on Pinterest. Pinterest is the #1 traffic referral to my blog in 2014 so far. These tips really work!

Create a separate, pinnable image for your blog post

The number one mistake that blogs are making today is not having a pinnable image on each blog post! Size matters! Even if you’re not a graphic designer or have Photoshop, you can make fantastic images that will help your blog posts be seen on Pinterest. +Canva recently launched some Pinterest templates that are really easy to use. Long, tall images command Pinterest taking up the most visual real estate in the Pinterest feed. Create images that are 735 pixels x 1102 pixels for maximum appeal and repins. I also use Canva's 800 x 1200 templates for Pinterest and Google+ images.

A great tip from power pinner +Melissa Taylor, update old posts without pinnable images. Create new images, add to the blog post then share them on Pinterest. You can even get fancy and add the embedded pin at the bottom of the post.

How are you using Pinterest with your blog?

Google+ Notification Changes

+Mike Allton breaks down the new notification changes and why titling your posts correctly is even more important.

Updated Google+ Notifications

Don't Panic.

This isn't a huge change.

I did notice though that Google+ has tweaked how notifications are displayed, and the details that are included, so that I think it becomes even more important to include a great headline in your Google+ posts.

#GooglePlus   #GooglePlusUpdate   #SocialMedia
In what might appear to be a minor update at first, Google+ has added additional detail to the internal notifications pane. Could this be a nice upgrade for businesses?

Pin Of The Day - Manly Pinterest Tip #1 - Secret Boards For Your Daughter

This the Pin that started it all...

Today's Pin Of The Day is the very first Manly Pinterest Tip that I ever wrote about.

After listening to +Peg Fitzpatrick's advice on the importance of +Pinterest, I decided to give it a try and was surprised at all the the traffic I received.

I'm happy to say that my daughter and I still use our secret board to share different ideas, recipes, and things to do between us.  Frankly, it was one of the best ideas I ever had.
