An Uncommon View of Hallstatt, Austria

I can’t say enough about Hallstatt. It is the most photogenic place I have visited. Everything is gorgeous in the old town. There are no duds, no disappointments, just beauty. It’s tempting to just post photos of Hallstatt every day (there are hundreds), but I’ll try to stick...

Green Mountain Reflection on a Reservoir in Marin County, California

Today, I will be going on an adventure in Marin County just north of San Francisco. In honor of that exploration, I thought I would share a video from my photo journey through Marin back in March of this year.
I doubt the area will be as green, but surely things will still be beautiful.

Hofbrauhaus Bräustübl in Berchtesgaden , Germany

Yesterday I reviewed the Intercontinental Berchtesgaden Resort, which has unfortunately changed ownership to Kempinski since my stay last month. While preparing this review, I went back and looked at some of the photos we took during our walk around town with Mrs. Jeffsetter, Geraldine...

View of the Golden Gate from Twin Peaks, San Francisco

Confession time: Before I moved to San Francisco, I thought that “Golden Gate” was simply the name given to a bridge connecting San Francisco and Marin County.
Then I saw a map of San Francisco from around 1900 and noticed that the body of water separating the two areas had...

Thai Airways First Class Review - 747-400 from Munich (MUC) to Bangkok (BKK)
A few notes: This review is from a flight I took in September of 2014. My memories of this flight are a little fuzzy, so I am doing my best to remember the details. There was alcohol and sleep deprivation involved.
Also note that I have started to inject more of my own personality into ...

View from East Peak of Mount Tamalpais, Northern California

This weekend was the perfect Northern California weekend. It started with a short hike to the top of the east peak of Mount Tamalpais (the car does most of the work, with the hike only being about a mile roundtrip). Check out these great views!
After that, we drove down the mountain to the...

I will be back in London this October. In honor of that occasion, here is a photo I took walking around London during my first visit in March of 2014.

Goodbye Intercontinental Berchtesgaden Resort - Review of Our Farewell Stay From March, 2015

This was not my first visit to the Intercontinental Berchtesgaden Resort, nor my first review of the property.
But it will certainly be my last visit and review of the Intercontinental in Berchtesgaden. Heck, it may be one of the last reviews you see of this property under the Intercontinental ...

Doing Touristy Stuff in My Own City - Golden Gate Bridge Photos During Spring Flower Bloom
This is my first published HDR image using Lightroom 6’s HDR feature. I like that the feature will combine exposures without doing too many surreal lighting tricks. It just means a solid image that represents what the eye sees. That said, I also really like the lighting effects from Photomatix.
I guess that’s the fun part of photography – the experimentation. For this particular photo, the photomatix version made the flowers look radioactive. The Lightroom HDR version made it look much more balanced.
There was also some experimentation with graduated filters to bring out the distinct aspects of the upper right/lower left parts of the image.

Front View of Neuschwanstein Castle in Winter
Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most iconic castles in the world. Here I took a 3 exposure (-3, 0, +3) HDR photo of Neuschwanstein on a rainy winter day. Photos were processed in Photomatix, with some additional blending in Photoshop.
