We recently deployed McAfee's File and Removable Media Protection which seems to hang some Windows 7 machines. It is still early and it is possible that some of our other security products are interfering with McAfee's tool. ...

USMT 4.0 has a bug that might not be noticed for months.
Here is a subtle problem I started finding in my environment.  I've only seen it on 3-Win7 machines but now I'm worried there are more machines out there broken but without an easy way to identify the machines. COM+ has a per...

Scientific American Reader: Is The Future of Transport All-Electric? http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIw9Znh-SY
The future of transportation was a hot topic at last week’s Future of Energy Summit in London hosted by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF). In particular, discussions were built around the question of what transportation will look like as the sector tries to balance 1) meeting demand and 2) compliance with air pollution standards.

Here is just a bunch of random notes to myself, for myself, and if it happens to help someone else...cool.
Introduction
I have 3 wonderfuls children and a great wife.

My current passions include Android, ChromeOS, GoogleTV, and finally workstation reliability and health over a massive scale using Microsoft's SCCM 2007.

I have worked in IT for a small eye doctor where I cut my teeth on supporting 70 workstations and 4 servers.  I then worked for a small provider group supporting 600 workstations and 30 servers which was finally merged with a downtown county hospital with 5000 workstations and 1 configuration server.  Finally, I moved on to a consulting group which supports a national nonprofit organization with 20k workstations and 250 configuration servers.

Now I'm working as a contractor for a Fortune 500 company working on the Desktop Security Team for 85k workstations.

Bragging rights
One of the few users that learned how to use Microsoft's RIS deployment system. It took a lot of patience back then.
