So what did I do today? Tries to fix problems that +GoDaddy
brought on. In fact, it's been going on all weekend.
It started on Friday when I got an email. They said the server I was on was getting retired. I figured it would take 48 hours to update all DNS, so I decided to let that happen and stay off the websites for that long.
However, that wasn't the case. The website has been bouncing between 500 and 503 errors since then.
Since Geekazine is a Multi-site, I decided to take the database completely off-line by creating a new DB called "Geekazine-test". With the DB offline, I was STILL getting 500 and 503 errors.
I have called GoDaddy a few times. Each time I was told I have some code in my website that is taking up all the connections. Yet all the code was pulled - no widgets, no plugins and a basic theme (Twenty-Thirteen). Alas, the 500 and 503 errors continue.
Not to mention that Wikazine is Completely down
. It's a +MediaWiki
site, so I have to figure that out later.
ITM - I have worked on my profile for the last 24 hours so I can have SOME access to +Geekazine
. Its slow because the 500 and 503 errors continue and I have to reload 10-20 times before changes happen. How is it the only thing that changes is GoDaddy moving my files to a new server *(and splitting the files and SQL onto 2 different machines), *then can continue to say: It's not our problem!?!
I understand I need to clean up files (which I have done). I am not working on domains everyday, so I have made some mistakes. Those mistakes are fixed now. Its not 100%, but it shouldn't be pulling 500 errors.
The log files don't help me (although they say I should be able to translate). It says: Connection reset by peer: [client x.x.x.x:xxxx] mod_fcgid: ap_pass_brigade failed in handle_request_ipc function
What have I learned about that code? It says the connection was closed and the process didn't run. But it doesn't say what it is or why it shut down.
I am at my wits end. This is NOT what I expected to do this week. You can access +Day in Tech History
along with +Sportazine +This Week in Google Glass (TWIGG)
and +How to Record Podcasts
Now its back to trying to figure out what's going on. Coffee pot will be on all night...
