Here's a shot from our fishing trip last week.  Didn't catch anything...but I did have my camera when this guy stopped by for a visit!

Thanks for the support!

Yeah, the nest wasn't built very sturdy, so we're not too surprised

I had a fun morning yesterday photographing the +Calgary Stampede Showband as they led the 2015 Calgary Stampede parade. It was our daughter Kyra's 4th time appearing in the Stampede Parade, and her 1st appearance with the Stampede Band. We are so proud of this group and their accomplishments!

Come check out their hard work and check out some of their performances during Stampede (Daily during the Rodeo @ 2:45pm...Chucks @ 7:55pm...Saddledome Steps @ 1:30pm & 8:30pm...and a whole bunch more around the park and other venues in Calgary)

This is one of my favorite shots as the made their way down 9th Avenue on the back half of the parade route.

Last Embers

The end of a long day and the Fire Pixy’s flames are fading .  This is one of our last images from after the Collaboration at Edworthy Park last weekend.  +Rayna McDonald and I spent the morning body painting +kyramcdonald and the afternoon shooting in the rain at the event…this was late evening just before we called it a night and Kyra wanted to get “just a few more studio images”.  You can see why she’s our favorite model, and we love her dedication “getting the shot” even at the end of a 14+ hour day!

Get that thing away from me!

Is something I have heard dozens of times from Jill when she visits our house. You see, Jillian has a wee bit of a snake phobia, and +Kyra McDonald's 3 ½ foot long Ball Python Amelia seems to draw that fear out of her—especially when she’s out of her cage.

Well, yesterday, that all changed as Jill stepped out of her comfort zone and opted to experience something new by not only touching, but holding and interacting with her new reptilian friend.

Nicely done Jill!

They definitely have some snakes in Ghana that you should be scared of!  Though these guys are native to that area too, so they're not all deadly.  I'm sure when you live somewhere with several poisonous species, any surprise visit by a snake is concerning.

Hi all, I'm Jeff and here's a little bit about me...

What circles will I fit into?

Photography - portraiture, studio, events, landscapes, city & urban, HDR, skydive, martial arts, photo walks

Canada - Alberta & Nova Scotia

Sports - Skydive, Taekwondo

What do I do for a living?

I pay most of the bills by working as a Systems Analyst & Middleware Administrator. My day varies from selecting, installing, configuring, deploying and troubleshooting various computer applications and file transfer processes for use by business teams in a corporate setting…oh yeah it also involves drinking a lot of coffee :-)

What do I do for fun?

A lot of my free time is spent with my wife and teenage daughter.  They’re awesome and they keep me on track in my crazy life. Speaking of my daughter...she's fundraising for her Summer Band Tour.  Click here to help with a donation to her fund

I fill up a big chunk of my off hours by taking pictures.  I enjoy shooting pretty much anything and like to challenge myself with styles and techniques that I haven’t tried before.  My favorite things to shoot are people & portraits.

I actively participate in the Selfy Sunday Project here on G+ curated by Jeff Smith, and I also enjoy taking part in the Photography Scavenger Hunts organized by Chrysta Rae.  If you do nothing else on Google+ introduce yourself to these two people and try these projects...you'll grow as a photographer and meet some excellent people in the process.

I do offer photography services in Calgary, AB, so if you're interested in a unique portrait let me know.  Some of my work can be seen at McDonaldPhoto.ca and of course here on Google+.

Anyway, I’ve rambled on enough.  If you want to know more, feel free to ask.  Otherwise, expect to see content from me mostly related to Photography with the odd piece of randomness that interests me.  I look forward to meeting you…

I have had the honor of knowing Master Lau and Master Kim since 1999 and highly recommend them and their programs at the Calgary Taekwondo Academy. Having trained with them first hand and witnessed their dedication to the martial arts, I can say with confidence that new students will have a positive experience from which to develop a solid base of knowledge, and returning students will be challenged to excel and refine their skills. It is great to see the continued success of the Calgary Taekwondo Academy, and I wish them all the best in the future! I look forward to training with you again soon. ~ Master Jeff McDonald
