Being one with your ideal audience is to commune with them. Only then can a business create content to their most relevant needs.#contentmarketing #idealaudience
This is for you. That's the voice of online content that connects with its ideal audience. It speaks from a place that says, "We think you are going to like this." My research for presenting social media and content marketing programs at several different green industry (landscape companies) this year revealed some good news: More companies are blogging. Yet, their purpose for doing so seems to be a mystery. You already know the most com...

True human curation is one of the most underestimated means for giving your audience more of what it wants from your business. #contentcuration
In addition to redesigning your original content to meet the varied needs of your audience, you should strongly consider curating content from other sources that are also recognized authorities in your space. We've all learned to ignore automated “set it and forget it” methods of content curation. However, a trend you should be aware of is using human curation to give your audience more of what it has come to expect from your business. Ever...

You work hard to create great content. Here are some ideas for getting more mileage out of it. #contentmarketing
Artists know you have to persevere to create your best art. It’s much more than a great idea; you also have to do the work. The same holds true in athletics. You may be gifted with talent and train hard, but it always comes down to your performance in a competitive event. Artists and athletes go the distance because stopping just a little short is enough to compromise the result – winning versus losing. In the world of marketing, the wi...

Podcasting is more than talk radio for businesses. #podcastingbusiness
This is Episode 23 of This Old New Business weekly business podcast with Jeff Korhan.  In this episode we dive into why every business should be podcasting - and how to get started. If anything, I would say they undersold the benefits of starting a business ...

One of the most unpleasant customer service experiences of my life. We drove 7 hours from Chicago to bring our son's furniture home after his graduation from Ohio State. The day before our reservation we confirmed our 9:00 reservation, and did so again the next morning. While driving in to pick up the truck we received a call to not come in because our truck had "mechanical problems." We were minutes away so we stopped in to discuss. There was one 10' truck (what we reserved) on the lot, but it didn't have mechanical problems because another customer was taking it away. I approached the Budget representative and she said: "He's been here since 8:00." So, even though we confirmed twice, she gave our truck away! It get's better. She terminated our conversation by saying "Good luck finding a truck" - and walked away! Fortunately, U-Haul had a truck for us and treated us courteously. If you want your reservation honored, go to U-Haul at 1211 Parsons Avenue.

Friendly, professional, and courteous service. This was our final move with our son after his graduation from Ohio State. We've used all the major truck rental companies and U-Haul has proved to be the most reliable. This location in particular was clean, organized, and got us on our way back to Chicago in no time at all. Highly recommended.
