Ah, if only "fiscally conservative but socially liberal" people cared about the real results of their idealistic beliefs. They won't though, not ever, because they keep moving on up by standing on the backs of the people they do everything in their power to keep down and out.
It's a popular refrain among "centrists." The truth is that social and fiscal issues are inextricably bound

I have to work on being a better Seattleite and spend more time at the Market.
Seattle is blessed with one of the nation's best public markets. In it, one can find a staggering array of culinary delights, from the practical (cheap, fresh produce and meat, bulk spices, a quick lunch for less than $10) to the exotic (quail eggs, pig heads, and $400-per-pound foraged truffles). But many Seattleites avoid Pike Place Market. Why? The answer has a lot to do with the market's status as one of Seattle's major tourist...

Yet another reason to not hop on WiFi in public locations. I've harped on this for ages but people always say, "My cell data is limited, so I get on WiFi EVERYWHERE I can!"

Now is a good time to stop that unless you absolutely must use WiFi in a coffee house or some other public location!

If you must use public WiFi, use Incognito/Private Browsing and only browse sites that don't require any login at all. No Facebooking, no emailing, and absolutely no banking in these places unless you are using your phone's LTE/3G connection!

Researchers have uncovered another serious vulnerability in Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) which affects how our information and communications are secured online. The good news is you can take specific steps to block Poodle attacks exploiting this flaw.

Apparently, because I'm a fan of a witty sitcom about scientists, it automatically means I will love a drama about geniuses who try to stop terrorists. Wrong, CBS!

This is a great article about why you should back all of your photos up in one place - hopefully a place that will automatically categorize and enhance them.

I've gotten some great groups of highlights from trips, animated GIFs, panoramas, and stories out of the tens of thousands of photos I have stored in my Google storage. Plus, I can type in just about any place or landmark I've visited over the years and see all of the photos related to the search terms. General terms like "lakes" or "dogs" pull up my photos with those subjects or searches like "Oregon coast" pull up photos of multiple trips to multiple destinations along the Oregon coast over the years. All without me ever having to identify anything manually and with everything staying private unless I choose to share a set of photos.
You don't expect Google to surprise and delight you. This time, it really did.

I wish the ultra-conservatives in this country would understand what the United States of America are actually supposed to be about and that some politicians running for national office would actually stand up to the religious right.
As we witness yet again the brutal and bloody consequences of religious intolerance in the form of ISIS, we have a majority of Republicans pining for a Christian America. Proponents of converting the United States into a theocracy do not see the terr...

As it all so often does long before so much of the country, Seattle has taken the right step, hopefully, more will start to take note.
