A breathtaking shot of a sunset taken atop the Rocky Mountains in Big Cottonwood Canyon bordering the eastern side of the Salt Lake valley. The color was gone about as fast as it came and at first I was wishing for an unobstructed view but realized the aspens were an important part of the photo.

Haven't published anything here for a while, but thought I would put this capture from the foothills of Herrmian Utah tonight. Missed the pinnacle of the show, but better late than never.

A group of night shots that I re-processes adding the new dehaze feature in Lightroom CC 2015. Makes a massive difference, turning my crop sensor shots into winners. Love it!

Want to do this in my southern Utah photography workshop in early November
Courthouse Towers | Arches National Park

Amongst all the national parks I've been too, Arches ranks right up at the top as far as jaw dropping beauty within the first few minutes of being in the park. Zion is probably either tied or slightly ahead because it's so much more compact, but I digress.

This little section of the park (located maybe a mile after entering the park) is called Park Avenue. Well, to be totally accurate, the hiking trail from the parking lot at Wall Street to the parking lot at the Organ is called Park Avenue, but this is one of the views you can get close by with a little effort. To the left are the "three gossips" and on the right is "The Organ" and "Tower of Babel" behind it."

Didn't have much of a sunset that night, but the light got decent for about 5-10 minutes. This image is a stack of around 5-6 different images to get the entire road filled with car trails.

I have an entire video tutorial about this technique in my free video tutorial library at my site. Check it out: http://jamesb.com/newsletter/

Some early summer lightning from a thunderstorm that rolled over the Salt Lake Valley tonight.  The storm was very short on rain, but big on show! #photography   #landscape   #utah   #herriman   #saltlakecity   #summer   #lightning
