For young Republicans who really want to change the GOP, the best way may be to leave the party for a while.
Last week, at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), there was a guy with a mohawk. I suppose this was notable because the GOP is generally

Snake oil? Check out the levels of scientific evidence for various health supplements (Updated for 2014)

This image is a “balloon race”. The higher a bubble, the greater the evidence for its effectiveness. But the supplements are only effective for the conditions listed inside the bubble.

You might also see multiple bubbles for certain supps. These is because some supps affect a range of conditions, but the evidence quality varies from condition to condition. For example, there’s strong evidence that Green Tea is good for cholesterol levels. But evidence for its anti-cancer effects is conflicting. In these cases, we give a supp another bubble.

I just watched the Joe Hanson video about Carl Sagan (shared by Mike Williams) and was inspired to share this image. He painted a bleak image of our future, and much of his vision may have come to reality.

What do you think?

Obamacare isn’t just a bad system. It’s a bad system that’s worse than the old bad system. And at least for now, even the uninsured, the people who supposedly stand to gain the most from the law, think so too.
Obamacare has lost the uninsured. A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released this week asked uninsured individuals whether or not they thought the law

I would like to read what he said, but have not found it.  There is no doubt Reason has a point of view, but they are certainly correct that capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other. John Paul II said as much, though he found it spiritually lacking.

I think that pretty much expends my "Economic Wisdom of the Popes" file ; )
