I'm so looking forward to The Writer's High Retreat, and I'm so honored to be a speaker this year. +Mari Ann Stefanelli always makes it a weekend to remember.

Southern Fried Truth #1: Don’t like laying in the bed you made? Roll yourself out and change the sheets. Ask for help if you need it – ask them to accompany you as you shop for new bed linens – but know that it is unreasonable to expect people to keep showing up to wash and mend the old ones. That does you no good at all, really, and we have other things to do.

So last week, in a throw away comment, I tell The Engineer that I want to bring my bubble machine up the mountain so I can have bubbles over the falls. And you wonder why I love him even 41 years later.

For one significant birthday, my granddaddy gave my mother a crisp $100 bill then told her: "I named you Ada after my mother. But knowing that you think I named you Ada after my mule, let me tell you that she was the best damn mule I ever had." How'd you get your name? Yes, you.

Hello. My name is Jeanne, and I'm an (unapologetic) chocaholic.

One of my friends since the cradle is Dianna who not only rammed the Civil Defense Jeep (the jeep we were NOT supposed to be driving) into a tree, but got her feet mixed up (or so she says) when making a left turn onto Hwy 54 and landed right smack dab in the middle of the recliner section of McElroy Furniture Store.

Tell me about a childhood friend and what y'all got into (whether you got caught or not).
