Lake of Fire,Sao Miguel Island-Azzore.

A paradise with breathtaking views! Rising straight out of the Atlantic Ocean around 1,500Km off the coast of mainland portugal is the Azores (Açores) archipelago. Volcanic in origin the chain stretches nearly 600Km and comprises of nine significant islands and eight smaller islets known locally as formigas (ants!).
Sao Miguel Island is considered the capital of the Azores, and is the biggest, most diverse and most populated island among the nine islands. It’s known for its volcano-created lakes, its sulfur springs spa, its historic towns and its black sand beaches and mountains.  It’s also called the “Green Island” because of its interior where good soil makes for productive agriculture.  All the roads leading around the island of Sao Miguel, provide views of the rolling hills, the ocean and the occasional cattle wandering on the road.
On the eastern side lies Lagoa do Fogo or “ Lake of Fire” a deep caldeira with a lake at the bottom.  Nearby are two tea plantations – the only tea plantation in Europe.  Along the cobblestone streets of the town of Furnas, some 23 types of mineral water flow and geysers bubble

Reflections on Moraine Lake, Valley of the Ten Peaks

Moraine Lake is a glacially-fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres  outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 1,885 m. The lake has a surface area of .5 square kilometres (0.19 sq mi).
The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. When it is full, it reflects a distinct shade of blue. The colour is due to the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis.
