Too sad for words.  The grandparents have lost their entire future.
A 10-month-old girl gazing at the planes in St. Petersburg airport before departing to Egypt – this picture of Darina has become the symbol of the plane crash in Sinai on social media. People continue to bring flowers to mourn the tragedy.

We had the central heating on several days in August!
Last month was the hottest in modern history, in the latest sign of an unusually warm year across the world's land and sea surfaces.

We don't use the central heating unless we absolutely must, but we have had the woodburner going quite a few evenings.

Those who keep jumping on the bandwagon of Russia-bashing would do well to watch a few of these stories and ponder on the debt we owe to Russia.
2015 marks 70 years since the end of World War II – one of the bloodiest conflicts in the history of mankind. Some of those who helped to win the war and protect the world from the Nazi threat are still alive today. These veterans survived its horrors and became heroes at a young age: among their...

Sorry I don't have a photo of my weird experience this morning....................

I had a plate full of fresh meat off-cuts, small pieces,  decided to put them on the lawn for any wild meat-eaters around. Paused to look at new bulbs breaking through and before I could escape it was like a scene from "The Birds". Form nowhere about 30 sea gulls appeared and swooped on the meat, each other and ME in a frenzy. In grave danger of losing an ear.

By the time I grabbed camera to take action shot all the pieces of meat and all the birds were airborne. The whole thing took seconds only. Scary. Where were they when I went out - and from how far can they smell food?

Bit frightening. We find that one bird is on look-out duty, and as soon as we put something out, he/she calls out and all the rest come.

We got fed up with cotton-wool mass produced bread. Just spent a most enjoyable afternoon baking my first loaf for many years. Organic unbleached flour from a named mill, real food and absolutely delicious.

Easy, satisfying (no bread maker!) and minimal time. To be repeated - often.

Ha! Wasn't as leaden as it looks. Very delicious. Specially toasted, more planned for the weekend.

From October stores will have to charge you for plastic bags. Save them tidily in one of these,  re-use them and save money. Makes sense.

So sad that a civilised society couldn't provide them with an easier way out. RIP
Harold Ambrose, 82, used a licenced shotgun to shoot his terminally ill wife, Wendy, as she slept then turned it on himself, at their thatched cottage in the village of Boxted on the outskirts of Colchester.

There's a lot to be said for having a bloody good heart attack. Far preferable to months/years of suffering. I think if I keep to my current diet I shall be in a good position to experience a cardiac arrest at some point :-)
I am hoping I'll be able to upload my brain to cloud storage in the next 30 years. Then I can "eat and drink" as much as I like. Mind you, if Microsoft are running the show I'd probably take my chances in an old folks home instead.

Maker of Jacaranda hats, waistcoats, bags etc. and tailored covers for Kitchen Equipment.
Introduction
My signature photo is the Jacaranda Tree, which I adopted as the brand name for Jacaranda Designs. I have been selling my handmade designs for over 20 years first at craft fairs and agricultural shows and now on my website https:// http://www.fleecehatsbyjacaranda.co.uk/ I have added to the fleece collections new ventures - Handmade covers/sleeves for phones, Kindles and tablets in Liberty and William Morris fabrics. There are also tailored covers for Kenwood Chef and Magimix mixers. It has been a fascinating journey from first steps in sewing to the present day - I thought a blog might be of interest so I have set out a few handy sewing hints along with snippets of my successes (and failures) along the way.http://stitchesandyarns-jean.blogspot.com/
