Why you should ditch the "100 minus your age" rule for investing
The old “100 minus your age” axiom for asset allocation has guided investors by suggesting they hold a percentage of stocks equal to 100 minus their age. However, this rule of thumb for gradually reducing risk has lost traction given structural changes in pension, social security and interest over time. The axiom is outdated for several reasons.
