If the Web had an API for accessing the users Contacts and Address Book, what would you use it for?

I have my own use cases, want to learn others.

Nice story

Rise of the Robot Phone

Heed the warning about all the androids animating: http://goo.gl/r6Ifyv. Apart from the barges, everything is prescient. In fact, the barges have simply floated away to be kitted out.

Little green men are still planning on taking over the world. Some of this will be announced at IO 2015. Seriously though, here's the real story: http://www.businessinsider.com/how-android-was-created-2015-3, via +Steven Mautone.

Rubin’s startup, Android, was in trouble, he explained. Rubin didn’t like asking for money again, but the situation was dire.

Android, which was creating mobile software for phones, was out of cash, and other investors weren’t biting.

Perlman agreed to wire some funds as soon as possible.

“Maybe a little sooner would be better,” Rubin said nervously. Rubin had already missed payments on Android’s office space, and the landlord was threatening to evict him.

Perlman went to the bank and withdrew $10,000 in $100 bills and handed them to Rubin. The next day, he wired over an undisclosed amount of money to provide the seed funding for Android.

Great story. Androids, advance!

New version of the Android Testing Support Library[0]

The release includes two major additions:
Espresso-Intents[1]: a Mockito-like API that enables hermetic inter-activity testing by allowing test authors to verify and stub outgoing intents.
Test Rules[2]: a set of Junit4 rules that replace ancient framework APIs like ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2 and ServiceTestCase.

All samples have been updated and a set of Espresso-Intents samples[3] has been added to help you get started.

Of course, we have also squashed some reported bugs and addressed minor feature requests from android-test-kit[4]. See release notes[5] and javadoc[6] for details.

Happy testing from the ATSL team +Valera Zakharov +Nick Korostelev +Jose Alcérreca and +Stephan Linzner

For blazing fast #WWW

Good news, you can now enable Chrome Data Compression Proxy [1] on desktop, via the Data Saver (beta) extension!

"When this extension is enabled, Chrome will use Google servers to compress pages you visit before downloading them. SSL and incognito pages will not be included."

[1] For what/why/how on Compression Proxy: http://bit.ly/1Cs39wN
Reduces data usage by using Google servers to optimize pages you visit.

Really disappointed. Visited the clinic sometime back for a minor thing. The clinic charged me Rs. 500 for nothing.
