*How to Write a Sales Page That Succeeds

When someone arrives on your #sales page, he or she is in between pure curiosity and “about to make the purchase” mode. Your sales page has to appeal to all of these types of people (no matter what stage they’re at) in order to convert well.

It’s a very fine line. If you’re too brief or vague, you’ll lose out on the people who don’t understand the product or who haven’t made decisions by the end of the page. If it’s too long or sloppy, you might bore people, and long copy, when done incorrectly, has the potential to be seen as spammy (such as on those obnoxious Clickbank weight loss sales pages).

Here’s how you dance on that line and reap the rewards of appealing to all of your potential #customers . This is your framework. Use the guidelines in relation to your own product or service, and watch as you convert better by appealing to more interested users.

Hey, here’s an idea. What if newspapers actually contained real news?

Recently, I grabbed the +USA TODAY as I often do while on the road (in this case, in #Nashville #Tennessee for the Marketing United #conference) I get most of my #news online (as you probably do as well).

But I still read a newspaper every single day.

I’ve read a #newspaper pretty much every day of my entire life. I know that makes me hopelessly old school.

But I was originally a #journalism major in the days before #computers, and old habits DIE HARD.

My Latest on C&C: Why you need a customer service response road map

Few customer complaints are personal. [Say that with me.]

Still, it’s human nature to feel attacked and react emotionally in these scenarios, especially when you’re actively trying to treat #customers well.

To keep your customer support team from responding with knee-jerk reactions, you need a system in place to handle negative feedback consistently, coherently, and objectively. This is the response road map.

You need a defined, step-by-step process for listening and responding to complaints.(highlight to tweet) This system also provides guidelines for complaint triage and response.

It determines how to find complaints, who will respond to them, how quickly issues will be addressed, and what to #communicate during different complaint scenarios.

It contains variations by channel and intensity of complaint to ensure mild phone complaints are handled differently than urgent and angry #Twitter #complaints.
